What you'll do

• Design, develop, and implement system architectures that meet the needs of our clients while ensuring scalability and security.
• Conduct system testing and validation to ensure compliance with specified requirements and performance metrics.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, providing timely solutions to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with software developers and other engineers to integrate new technologies and improve existing systems.
• Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in system upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to services and seamless transitions.
• Monitor system performance and conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Engage with clients to understand their requirements and provide tailored solutions that align with their business objectives.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our systems remain competitive and effective.
• Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, summarizing system performance, project status, and recommendations for enhancements.
• Assist in the development of training materials and conduct training sessions for end-users on new systems and technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in system engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, design principles, and best practices.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and system management.
• Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware or Hyper-V.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and their integration into existing systems.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by the role.

Nice to have

• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Previous experience working in a government or defense contracting environment.
• Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
