What you'll do
- Design, develop, and implement system architectures that meet the needs of our clients while ensuring scalability and security.
- Conduct system testing and validation to ensure compliance with specified requirements and performance metrics.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, providing timely solutions to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with software developers and other engineers to integrate new technologies and improve existing systems.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in system upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to services and seamless transitions.
- Monitor system performance and conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Engage with clients to understand their requirements and provide tailored solutions that align with their business objectives.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our systems remain competitive and effective.
- Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, summarizing system performance, project status, and recommendations for enhancements.
- Assist in the development of training materials and conduct training sessions for end-users on new systems and technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in system engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of system architecture, design principles, and best practices.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and system management.
- Experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and their integration into existing systems.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by the role.
Nice to have
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Previous experience working in a government or defense contracting environment.
- Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
