What you'll do
- Design, implement, and maintain security protocols to protect sensitive data and systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security weaknesses within our infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce security policies and procedures that align with industry standards and best practices.
- Monitor security events and incidents, analyzing logs and alerts to detect and respond to potential threats in real-time.
- Develop and deliver security awareness training for employees to promote a culture of security within the organization.
- Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery from security breaches.
- Stay current with emerging security technologies and trends, making recommendations for improvements to our security framework.
- Assist in the preparation for audits and assessments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other IT staff regarding security-related issues and solutions.
- Document security processes, incidents, and remediation efforts to maintain a comprehensive record of security activities.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of our security measures.
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors to ensure that third-party services meet our security requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in information security or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
- Proficiency in security tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment tools and methodologies, as well as incident response procedures.
- Familiarity with cloud security principles and practices, particularly in environments such as AWS or Azure.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are highly desirable.
Nice to have
- Experience in a government or defense contracting environment, particularly with knowledge of government security requirements.
- Familiarity with programming or scripting languages, such as Python or PowerShell, for automation of security tasks.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations, including GDPR or HIPAA, and their implications for security practices.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in using security information and event management (SIEM) tools for monitoring and analysis.
- Familiarity with network security protocols and technologies, including VPNs, SSL/TLS, and secure coding practices.
- Experience with endpoint security solutions and mobile device management (MDM) systems.
- Knowledge of penetration testing methodologies and tools to assess system vulnerabilities.
