Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and maintain information security policies and procedures to protect organizational assets and sensitive information.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential threats and weaknesses in the information systems.
- Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement security solutions that align with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
- Monitor network traffic and system logs to detect and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
- Provide training and awareness programs for employees to promote a culture of security within the organization.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as NIST, FISMA, and ISO 27001.
- Prepare and present reports on security incidents, risk assessments, and compliance status to senior management.
- Act as a liaison with external auditors and regulatory bodies during security assessments and audits.
- Stay updated on the latest security trends, threats, and technologies to continuously improve the organization's security posture.
- Participate in incident response activities, including investigation and remediation of security breaches.
- Assist in the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure operational resilience.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in information security.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in information security or a related field, with a focus on risk management and compliance.
- Strong understanding of security frameworks and standards, including NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
- Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and vulnerability management.
- Familiarity with security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption methods.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable.
- Experience with incident response and security monitoring tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in a government or defense contracting environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud security practices and technologies.
- Knowledge of programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation of security tasks.
