Bimeda is looking for a dedicated Cattleman to join their team in San Angelo, Texas. This full-time position focuses on supporting cattle health and productivity through hands-on animal care and management. The role involves working directly with livestock to monitor well-being, administer treatments, and maintain herd health standards. The Cattleman will serve as a key contributor to Bimeda's mission of improving animal health outcomes across ranching operations and will take pride in the daily care of cattle.

What you'll do

• Monitor the health and behavior of cattle herds on a daily basis to identify signs of illness or distress early
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments to animals according to established protocols and guidance from the veterinary team
• Assist with calving operations and provide attentive care to newborn calves during the busy spring birthing season
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal health treatments, feed intake, and herd performance metrics over time
• Collaborate with veterinarians and herd managers to develop and implement comprehensive herd health management plans
• Perform routine livestock handling tasks including sorting, moving, and penning cattle in a safe and efficient manner
• Inspect and maintain fencing, corrals, and other infrastructure to ensure safe and secure animal containment at all times
• Participate in feed management activities including preparation, distribution, and quality assessment of animal feed rations
• Conduct regular pasture and range assessments to evaluate forage availability and overall grazing conditions across the property
• Follow all biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines to prevent disease spread and ensure ethical treatment of every animal
• Work closely with ranch staff to coordinate daily schedules and prioritize animal care tasks effectively
• Report any unusual animal symptoms or health concerns to the veterinary team in a timely manner

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of hands-on experience working with cattle in a ranch or feedlot setting
• Demonstrated knowledge of cattle breeds, anatomy, and common health conditions affecting bovine animals
• Ability to handle livestock safely and confidently in both confined and open pasture environments
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional agricultural or veterinary training is preferred
• Physical fitness to perform demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions throughout the year
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for travel between ranch locations
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining thorough health and treatment records
• Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays during peak ranching seasons
• Prior experience with herd health monitoring tools and livestock management software is beneficial
• Experience with herd record-keeping systems and data entry into management software
• Comfort working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability for assigned animal groups

Nice to have

• Previous experience with artificial insemination or reproductive technologies in cattle herds
• Familiarity with low-stress cattle handling techniques and modern stockmanship principles
• Certification or coursework in animal science, veterinary technology, or a related agricultural field
• Experience operating farm equipment such as feed trucks, loaders, and irrigation systems
• Understanding of cattle nutrition and feed ration formulation for herd optimization
• Knowledge of local forage species and pasture management practices for Texas ranch environments

• Proficiency in cattle handling and restraint methods for safe animal management
• Knowledge of common cattle medications, vaccines, and nutritional supplements
• Ability to read and interpret herd health records and production data
• Competence with basic farm equipment maintenance and repair

• This position is based at Bimeda's San Angelo, Texas facility and requires on-site presence
• The role involves physical labor outdoors in all seasons, including extreme heat and cold conditions
• Employees in this position must be comfortable working around large animals in a ranch environment
• Bimeda provides on-the-job training and support for new team members to develop their cattle management skills
• This is a full-time role with a regular schedule, though additional hours may be needed during peak seasons
