About the role
The Finance Manager will operate at the intersection of detailed accounting execution and high-level strategic insight, owning the end-to-end financial processes that connect transactional activity to board-level reporting. This position is responsible for ensuring that financial data flows seamlessly and accurately across the systems supporting our multi-country European operations. You will own the design of intake controls for transaction data, guaranteeing that information entering our reporting platforms is complete, validated, and audit-ready before it influences decision-making. In this capacity, you will own the creation of journal entries and the rigorous reconciliation of accounts, applying consistent accounting policies across the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Germany. You will audit billing cycles and revenue recognition methodologies to confirm that our commercial reality is reflected precisely in our financial statements, mitigating risk and ensuring compliance. Success in this role requires collaboration with external advisors to ensure filings, tax documentation, and audits progress without friction or delay, while simultaneously partnering with commercial leadership to model scenarios and test the financial assumptions behind growth initiatives. The position is critical for driving the automation of repetitive financial tasks, establishing data-driven processes that increase transparency, efficiency, and reliability in recurring activities. What you'll do
- Architect robust intake procedures to ensure transaction data is captured accurately prior to entering reporting systems, reducing error rates and rework.
- Create complex journal entries and execute comprehensive reconciliations while validating accounting policies across legal entities to ensure conformity and accuracy.
- Audit billing cycles and revenue recognition practices to confirm strict alignment with actual commercial activity and contractual terms.
- Execute reliable month-end and year-end closing procedures through deep coordination with teams located in multiple countries, managing dependencies and timelines.
- Work closely with commercial leadership to build financial models and evaluate the assumptions underlying various growth strategies and market scenarios.
- Liaise with external advisors, including auditors and tax consultants, to ensure all filings, tax documentation, and audits progress without issues or compliance gaps.
- Automate repetitive tasks within business tools using scripts, templates, or workflow rules to minimize manual effort and enhance the consistency of financial data.
- Protect the integrity of financial data by establishing and monitoring internal controls that maintain the accuracy, completeness, and traceability of financial records across the organization.
- Analyze operational metrics and translate them into financial insights, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvement to senior stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary financial partner for operational teams, providing clear guidance on accounting treatments and ensuring that commercial decisions are grounded in financial reality.
- Maintain and evolve financial documentation, including process maps and policy guidelines, to support scalability and knowledge transfer within the finance department.
- Monitor the performance of financial systems, identifying gaps or limitations and proposing improvements to support more efficient closing cycles and reporting.
- Support ad-hoc analyses related to inventory valuation, shipping costs, and margin analysis to assist leadership in optimizing profitability across channels.
- Champion best practices in financial governance, ensuring that standards for accuracy, transparency, and internal control are upheld across all operational jurisdictions.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of long-term financial roadmaps that align with the company's infrastructure and growth objectives in Europe.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of three years of experience managing complex accounting duties in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating resilience and adaptability under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate the capability to manage billing operations, reconciliations, and analysis across numerous legal entities while maintaining a clear overview of intercompany relationships.
- Communicate effectively in both French and English when interacting with colleagues, partners, and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and professionalism in all exchanges.
- Utilize systems to drive precise monthly and annual closing routines with limited direct oversight, showing strong ownership of deadlines and deliverables.
- Develop data-driven processes that increase the transparency and efficiency of recurring financial work, leveraging technology to streamline manual steps.
- Exhibit a high level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information, adhering to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate constructively with cross-functional teams, including operations, commercial, and IT, to resolve issues and align on process improvements.
