Sr. Software Engineer
Job description
About the role
You will own the full lifecycle of experimental features that evolve from raw concept into revenue-generating products. You will partner with product and infrastructure teams to translate ambiguous business problems into scalable technical solutions. You will validate ideas quickly through prototypes and then drive the transition from experimental code to hardened, production-ready services. You will leverage AI tools to accelerate development while applying deep engineering judgment to ensure correctness and reliability. You will operate across the entire stack to deliver messaging, voice, and connectivity features that reflect the power of our global network.
Key facts
What you'll do
Investigate ambiguous problems and define the smallest experiments that prove or disprove an idea within days.
Build thin vertical slices that connect frontend interactions directly to our global communications network for immediate feedback.
Collaborate with infrastructure teams to instrument services, validate SLAs, and ensure solutions are feasible at network scale.
Translate raw research and prototypes into production services with monitoring, alerting, and rollback strategies built in.
Apply AI-assisted development workflows to generate boilerplate, run tests, and explore alternative implementations without sacrificing quality.
Own the customer journey from first click through billing and support handoff, ensuring reliability and clarity at each step.
Design interfaces that let product teams iterate quickly while keeping our services stable and well-documented.
Balance speed with durability, choosing architectures that can scale from an experiment to a globally deployed product.
Champion observability and testing so that new features are understood, trusted, and easy to extend by the whole team.
Operate wherever the highest-priority work lives, moving between discovery, delivery, and hardening as the mission demands.
Partner closely with product managers, designers, and infrastructure engineers to align technical constraints with business outcomes.
Maintain a bias for action by prioritizing outcomes over outputs and shipping working software that customers can use and pay for.
Continuously refine your craft by learning new tools, frameworks, and patterns from both internal and external sources.
Requirements
You have solid experience designing and building software systems that handle scale and concurrency in production.
You have shipped products or features that real customers rely on, with evidence of impact in a startup or high-growth environment.
You understand software design patterns, system architecture, and debugging techniques at a level that lets you solve problems you have not seen before.
You embrace AI development tools as a core part of your workflow, using them to increase speed while maintaining rigorous quality.
You know how to read AI-generated code, recognize subtle issues, and refine outputs to meet production standards.
You are comfortable working across the full stack, including frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure, using AI to fill knowledge gaps without slowing delivery.
You thrive in environments where requirements evolve quickly and priorities shift based on new information and experimentation results.
You prefer practical, maintainable solutions over clever or trendy technologies, and you build with observability and resilience in mind.
Nice to have
Experience building communication, messaging, or voice-related features that touch real networks.
Familiarity with telecom or API platforms that expose programmable connectivity to customers.
A track record of contributing to open source projects or publishing tools that other engineers use.
Practical notes
This role operates in an R&D and innovation capacity where the mission, not a fixed roadmap, determines day-to-day work.
You should be comfortable moving quickly in a fast-paced environment where experimentation is common and processes are lightweight.
The Innovation Studio is designed for senior individual contributors who thrive without heavy process and with strong ownership.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.
This role is not suited for engineers who prefer highly structured processes and long-term plans defined far in advance.
