About the role
Managing Director, US Market Access
About the Opportunity
Avalere Health invites you to lead and own comprehensive market access programs for our US clients. In this Managing Director role, you will be responsible for shaping strategic plans that drive payer adoption and provider uptake within the US market. The position requires the translation of complex healthcare policy into clear, actionable pathways for patients and stakeholders. You will use deep subject matter expertise to navigate the dynamic policy and payment landscape, ensuring our strategies address the business issues that impact the relative marketplace. This is a permanent, full-time position based remotely in the United States, offering a base compensation of $250,000 plus a target bonus.
This role is integral to our US Market Access practice, where we design strategic and tactical plans to maximize adoption and uptake by payers, providers, and patients throughout the product lifecycle. We integrate policy and healthcare market dynamics into business planning, working collaboratively with scientific, technical, and regulatory experts. The position operates in both pre-approval and post-market environments, focusing on a wide range of market access and commercialization areas. These include payer strategy, pricing and contracting strategy, go-to-market campaigns, coverage, coding, and reimbursement strategies, provider segmentation and engagement, distributor and specialty pharmacy engagement, field team design and deployment, patient support services, and investment or business development and licensing strategy.
Key Responsibilities
You will own end-to-end market access programs, shaping strategic plans that drive payer adoption and provider uptake. A core function of this role is to translate complex policy into clear pathways for patients, ensuring accessibility and understanding. You will champion pricing and contracting approaches that strengthen our position across payer networks. Orchestrating go-to-market campaigns will involve aligning coverage, coding, and reimbursement teams to ensure cohesive execution.
Coordinating with distributors and specialty pharmacies will be essential to optimize field deployment and reach. You will guide patient support services to ensure a seamless experience across the patient journey. The role requires directing investment and business development initiatives to expand licensing value and strategic partnerships. You will champion cross-functional collaboration with scientific and regulatory experts, verifying outcomes through data and refining plans across the entire product lifecycle.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must hold 3-5 years of relevant market access experience within the US life sciences sector. A deep understanding of dynamic payer policy and evolving payment models is required. You must possess the ability to navigate complex commercial issues that shape the competitive marketplace. The ideal candidate can design strategic plans that achieve adoption across both providers and payers.
You must be able to integrate healthcare market dynamics into business planning cycles effectively. Success in this role requires the ability to work effectively with scientific, technical, and regulatory teams. You will thrive in pre-approval and post-market environments, demonstrating clear communication skills with payers, providers, and patients.
