Position Overview
The Senior Consultant
Primary Market Research owns the full scope of research initiatives that shape brand strategy and patient access decisions. You translate complex market dynamics into clear positioning and experience implications for healthcare clients. This role operates at the intersection of research and strategy, guiding discovery, analysis, and application so insights drive tangible decisions. You will lead core workstreams, manage clients with autonomy, and act as a thought partner in shaping decisions across brand, medical, and access strategy.
Core Responsibilities
You will define research objectives that clarify client questions and success metrics for primary studies. You will design study approaches that combine qualitative and quantitative methods across buyer and patient journeys. You will orchestrate fieldwork and analysis to uncover insights that inform positioning and value messaging. You will translate complex data into strategic recommendations for brand, medical, and access teams. You will build clear implications that influence go-to-market decisions and patient experience strategies. You will partner with analytics and commercial teams to align insights with real-world constraints and priorities. You will guide study execution so that timelines, quality, and budgets remain aligned with client expectations. You will champion rigorous interpretation that turns findings into practical steps for commercial and policy teams.
Required Qualifications
You hold at least three years of experience in primary research within healthcare or related sectors. You demonstrate mastery of qualitative and quantitative methods and can explain tradeoffs to stakeholders. You communicate recommendations clearly to diverse audiences, including executives and technical specialists. You navigate regulatory and compliance considerations relevant to healthcare market research.
Preferred Experience and Capabilities
Experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices is preferred, along with familiarity with health economics.

What you'll do
- Own the end-to-end delivery of primary market research projects for healthcare clients, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and quality standards.
- Design and execute qualitative and quantitative research studies that capture patient and buyer journey insights to inform strategic decision-making.
- Lead the development of research frameworks that translate ambiguous business questions into clear, testable objectives and success metrics.
- Manage the end-to-end fieldwork process, coordinating with vendors and stakeholders to ensure timelines, budgets, and data quality meet contractual obligations.
- Synthesize complex data sets into compelling narratives and visual insights that clarify positioning, unmet needs, and value propositions for clients.
- Translate research findings into actionable recommendations for brand, medical, and access strategy teams, influencing go-to-market decisions.
- Partner closely with analytics and commercial teams to ensure insights are feasible, relevant, and aligned with organizational priorities and constraints.
- Act as a thought partner within the London hub and globally, contributing to the development of SenseLab methodologies and best practices.
- Champion the application of behavioral science and journey design principles to uncover deeper insights into stakeholder experiences and decision-making.
- Utilize AI-enabled insight transformation tools to enhance analysis speed, depth, and clarity while maintaining rigorous analytical standards.
- Guide the interpretation of data to identify implications that drive messaging, positioning, and evidence generation for client programs.
- Ensure all research activities adhere to regulatory and compliance standards relevant to healthcare market research in multiple jurisdictions.
- Mentor junior researchers by providing feedback, guidance, and coaching on research design, analysis techniques, and client communication.
- Proactively identify risks and dependencies within project timelines, recommending mitigation strategies to keep studies on track and on budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research insights into broader commercial planning and patient access strategies.
- Maintain a high standard of quality and consistency in deliverables, demonstrating attention to detail and rigorous analytical thinking.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the SenseLab community by sharing knowledge, tools, and frameworks with peers and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement in research methodologies and practices, leveraging lessons learned from completed projects to enhance future studies.
Requirements
- Hold at least three years of professional experience conducting primary research in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or related sectors.
- Demonstrate advanced mastery of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and can clearly articulate the tradeoffs to diverse stakeholders.
- Communicate strategic recommendations with clarity and confidence to senior executives, technical specialists, and cross-functional teams.
- Navigate complex regulatory and compliance landscapes relevant to healthcare market research with diligence and precision.
- Apply a strong understanding of healthcare decision-making processes, including the roles of clinicians, payers, and patients.
- Exhibit proficiency in using research tools and platforms that support data collection, analysis, and insight synthesis.
- Show commitment to ethical research practices and the responsible management of confidential healthcare information.
- Thrive in a client-facing role that requires adaptability, resilience, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
