You will collaborate closely with designers, developers, and other artists to create stunning graphics that enhance gameplay and engage players. Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead the visual development of game projects, establishing the overall art style and ensuring consistency throughout the production process.
- Create high-quality 2D and 3D assets, including characters, environments, props, and UI elements, that align with the game's artistic vision.
- Collaborate with game designers to understand gameplay mechanics and translate them into compelling visual experiences.
- Mentor junior artists, providing guidance and feedback to help them grow their skills and contribute effectively to the team.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas for game visuals and features.
- Optimize artwork for performance and ensure that assets are integrated seamlessly into the game engine.
- Conduct regular reviews of art assets, ensuring they meet quality standards and are delivered on schedule.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate new techniques and tools into the art pipeline.
- Work closely with the technical team to troubleshoot and resolve any art-related issues that arise during development.
- Contribute to the creation of marketing materials, including promotional artwork and trailers, to showcase our games to a wider audience.
- Assist in the development of art documentation and style guides to maintain clarity and consistency across projects.
- Engage in playtesting sessions to gather feedback on visual elements and make necessary adjustments to enhance player experience.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in game art production, with a strong portfolio showcasing your artistic skills and previous work.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Maya, Blender, or similar tools for 2D and 3D art creation.
- Strong understanding of game design principles and how art contributes to gameplay and storytelling.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate artistic concepts and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in leading projects and mentoring junior artists, fostering a collaborative and creative team environment.
- A keen eye for detail, with a strong sense of color, composition, and visual storytelling.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine, and experience in integrating art assets into these platforms.
- Knowledge of animation principles and experience creating character animations or visual effects.
- Experience working in a variety of game genres, from mobile to AAA titles, showcasing versatility in artistic style.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in 2D and 3D art creation tools, including but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator, ZBrush, and 3D modeling software.
- Strong understanding of color theory, typography, and visual composition.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, and project management tools to streamline workflow.
