What you'll do

• Lead the technical accounting function, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
• Analyze complex transactions and provide accounting guidance to various departments, including sales, operations, and finance.
• Prepare and review technical accounting memos and documentation to support financial reporting and disclosures.
• Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations for accounting positions taken.
• Monitor changes in accounting regulations and standards, assessing their impact on the company's financial reporting and advising management accordingly.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
• Provide training and support to junior accounting staff on technical accounting matters and best practices.
• Participate in special projects, including mergers and acquisitions, to evaluate the accounting implications and integration processes.
• Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Work closely with the finance team to develop forecasts and budgets, providing insights based on technical accounting considerations.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline accounting processes and enhance reporting capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA designation is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical accounting or financial reporting, preferably in a public accounting firm or a publicly traded company.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS standards, with the ability to interpret and apply them to complex transactions.
• Proven experience in preparing technical accounting memos and documentation.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex accounting concepts to non-accounting personnel.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing accounting issues.

Nice to have

• Experience in the software or technology industry, with an understanding of revenue recognition principles.
• Familiarity with international accounting standards and regulations.
• Previous experience with mergers and acquisitions from an accounting perspective.
• Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to create complex financial models.
