About the role
As a Paralegal at Asure Software, you will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team by managing various legal tasks and ensuring compliance with regulations. This position is based in our Austin, Texas office, where you will collaborate closely with attorneys and other stakeholders to facilitate the smooth operation of legal processes. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our legal documents and contribute to the overall success of our legal initiatives.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and discovery materials, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation, including reviewing statutes, regulations, and case law relevant to ongoing matters.
- Organize and maintain legal files, both physical and electronic, ensuring that all documents are properly indexed and easily accessible.
- Coordinate and manage the scheduling of depositions, hearings, and meetings, ensuring all parties are informed and prepared.
- Draft and proofread correspondence, memos, and reports for internal and external communication, maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Assist in the preparation of trial materials, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders, to support attorneys during litigation.
- Monitor and track deadlines for filings, responses, and other legal obligations, ensuring timely compliance with all requirements.
- Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel to facilitate communication and resolve any issues that may arise during legal proceedings.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss case strategies, updates, and any challenges that may require attention.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal trends and changes in legislation that may impact the company or its clients.
- Support the implementation of legal technology tools and systems to enhance efficiency within the legal department.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new paralegals or legal interns, providing guidance on best practices and company protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field.
- A minimum of three years of experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Proficient understanding of legal terminology, concepts, and procedures.
- Strong research skills, with the ability to analyze and synthesize complex legal information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in legal research databases and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with case management software and document management systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, with a focus on maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated and capable of working independently.
Nice to have
- Certification from a recognized paralegal association, such as NALA or NFPA.
- Experience in a specific area of law, such as corporate law, intellectual property, or litigation.
- Knowledge of compliance regulations and corporate governance practices.
- Familiarity with e-discovery processes and tools.
- Experience working in a technology-focused environment or with software licensing agreements.
