Founding GTM Specialist
Job description
About the role
Aspora seeks a Founding GTM Specialist to define and drive go-to-market for business banking across UAE SMEs. You will operate inside a small team of ex-founders to launch products that were previously not possible.
Sales roles connect a company's product with the customers who need it. Representatives research accounts, run demos, handle objections, and close deals. The work is quota driven and moves quickly. Strong sellers combine listening skills with product knowledge and steady follow through. Sales roles reward consistent activity and honest qualification of deals. Most companies use a defined sales process, and reps are trained on it before being left on their own.
Key facts
What you'll do
The market for cross-border business banking in UAE is defined by underserved SME needs, and you will build the initial go-to-market motion for this product category. Feed market intelligence back into product by surfacing customer needs and advocating internally to shape platform evolution based on observed behavior.
Requirements
Bring 3-6 years of B2B sales, BD, or partnerships experience in the UAE, selling financial products to SME finance teams such as CFOs, finance directors, or treasury heads with demonstrated results. Demonstrate working knowledge of cross-border payments, FX, or business banking products and the real problems they solve for SMEs to show credibility in this niche. Track record of building pipeline and closing deals in environments where the product and the playbook did not previously exist, proving adaptability and ownership. Operate without a playbook by writing the playbook and bias for execution through proactive prospecting, rigorous qualification, structured discovery, and disciplined same-day logging of outcomes. Be based in the UAE with an existing presence in its business or financial services ecosystem to enable rapid partner and customer engagement.
Nice to have
Strong advantages include Arabic language skills and a network across UAE logistics, import/export, or professional services sectors to accelerate trust and access.
Practical notes
This role requires UAE residency and an in-office presence in Dubai. The team is a small group of ex-founders and high-agency operators who move quickly. Typical interview steps
Sales hiring often includes a role play, a discovery call simulation, and a presentation. Candidates may be asked to pitch a product to a panel or handle a tough objection. Behavioral questions focus on past quota attainment and deal history. Energy and preparation matter. Interviewers often simulate the job in the interview itself, so be ready to run a short discovery call or demo. Practicing your own sales pitch out loud helps.
Good to know
Roles in fintech often combine sales, product feedback, and partnership development into a single impactful position. Success depends on owning the early market strategy without a predefined playbook, requiring self-direction and experimentation. Cross-border payments and SME banking remain underserved segments in the region, creating opportunity for innovative solutions. The role uses sales and product tools to iterate quickly based on customer input, enabling fast learning cycles.
Questions to ask
Worth asking in any interview: how the team measures success, who the role works with daily, what the onboarding looks like, and what the company is trying to achieve this year. Asking what past hires did well is a strong final question. Keep the list short and pick the questions that matter most to you.
Career growth
Sales careers can move from SDR or associate to account executive, senior AE, manager, and director roles. Some sellers move into partnerships, account management, or revenue operations. Compensation typically mixes a base with commission tied to results. High performers in sales typically move into larger accounts, team leadership, or sales operations. Quota history and references carry the most weight in promotion.
