About the Role
You will function as a trusted advisor, owning the complete sales cycle for enterprise clients in Houston, Southeast Texas, and Louisiana. Your primary mission is to translate ambiguous business requirements into robust network architectures that address complex business challenges. You will guide critical technical decisions, working in concert with product teams to shape our strategic direction and influence future offerings to meet market demands. This position requires deep analytical thinking to dissect intricate problems and formulate logical, scalable network design principles. You will act as the technical authority throughout the engagement, ensuring all proposed solutions align with best practices and industry standards. The role demands a high degree of ownership, where your expertise directly dictates the success of the technical engagement and the satisfaction of the client. You will be the definitive source for all things related to network design, implementation strategy, and operational excellence within your assigned region.
Key Facts
What you'll do
- Architect end-to-end data center and campus overlays, leveraging VxLAN and EVPN technologies to identify and create new sales opportunities through innovative design.
- Conduct hands-on proof-of-concept validations using physical equipment to test Data Center and Campus network designs under various traffic patterns and failure scenarios.
- Execute whiteboard reviews to uncover inefficiencies and map specific paths for enhancing network performance, scalability, and resiliency for critical business functions.
- Author design guidelines and strategic recommendations to ensure partner environments remain stable, secure, and support long-term business objectives and growth initiatives.
- Represent Arista at industry conferences and global events, securing speaking opportunities when available to elevate the brand and share thought leadership.
- Partner directly with Sales Teams to formulate technically precise and commercially compelling responses to RFPs and RFQs, ensuring competitive positioning.
- Author feature requests and business justifications that feed directly into Product Management and Hardware Development roadmaps to influence future product strategy.
- Facilitate technical training sessions, demonstrating product differentiators, solution outcomes, and live demos to both internal and external audiences to build expertise and trust.
Requirements
A Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering degree is mandatory; an MBA or MS is a significant advantage that can further distinguish your candidacy in competitive situations. You must bring five or more years of professional experience designing and implementing L2/L3 networks, with a strong focus on Data Center, Campus, and WIFI solutions across diverse vertical markets. Demonstrated recent, hands-on experience designing leaf-spine architectures in complex environments is essential to prove your ability to handle modern network demands. Your expertise must comprehensively cover Ethernet, RSTP, MSTP, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, EVPN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, and QoS to ensure you can manage any network scenario. You must hold industry certifications such as CCIE R&S, JNCIE, or ACE 5, 6, or 7 to validate your technical depth and commitment to the profession. The ability to communicate complex technical material clearly is required for both executive stakeholders and presentation settings to ensure alignment and buy-in from all levels of the organization. You will build strong relationships with executives, architects, engineers, and operations teams to ensure technical solutions align perfectly with business goals and strategic initiatives. The creation of technical materials, including slides, white papers, battle cards, and solution guides, must be performed under tight timelines without compromising accuracy or detail. Experience with network automation using Python and Ansible is highly valued, along with a commitment to infrastructure-as-code practices to drive efficiency and consistency.

Previous roles as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales SE, or Network Consulting Engineer provide proven impact in field engagements where direct client interaction is critical. Strong writing skills that produce informative white papers on technology and products remain highly desired to educate the market and support demand generation efforts. Demonstrated success in collaborative environments where cross-functional teamwork leads to innovative solutions and stronger client outcomes is considered a significant asset. A history of contributing to the technical community through speaking engagements, blogging, or open-source projects can further enhance your ability to represent the company effectively. Familiarity with emerging technologies such as cloud networking, security integration, and zero-trust architectures is preferred to help clients navigate the evolving digital landscape.
