What You'll Do
The ideal candidate excels at troubleshooting dynamic hyperscale environments, including networks built for AI and accelerated computing. Success requires balancing intricate technical diagnostics with clear communication. A rapid ability to learn new technologies and teach others is essential. Engineers work alongside Customer Engineering, development, and sales teams to diagnose issues and communicate findings across technical contexts. This demands exceptional written and verbal skills and a cooperative mindset.
Responsibilities
- Resolve customer issues occurring during installation, operation, and maintenance of Arista products.
- Investigate complex hardware and software network problems, working with sales, account teams, and development. Provide post-call summaries detailing root cause and solution paths.
- Document customer interactions and recurring technical issues to aid product quality and development initiatives.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the networking industry, products, and protocols.
- Develop experience with data centers supporting Artificial Intelligence; this skill is highly desired.
- Bring a minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience. Combine this with capabilities in design, deployment, configuration, support, troubleshooting, debugging, and administration of specific technologies.
Required Technical Expertise
- Mastery of L1 and L2 technologies, including Auto-negotiation with FEC, L1 debugging, VLAN, LACP, LLDP, STP/RSTP/MST, and MACSec.
- Command of L3 technologies such as ARP, Core Routing (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS), IPv4 & IPv6, MPLS, LDP, DHCP, VARP/VRRP, VRF, ICMP, and ECMP.
- Proficiency in system administration, including AAA/TACACS, SNMP, Sflow, and access control lists.
- Working knowledge of Cloud and AI technologies, including QoS, FlowControl, PFC, Packet Forwarding and Buffering, Shaping, and Policing.
- Experience with open network operating systems, particularly SONiC, is highly desired.
- Skill with troubleshooting tools such as tcpdump and Wireshark (or similar) is mandatory.
- Strong comfort with Linux command line environments is essential.
- Familiarity with shell scripting, Python, gNMI/gRPC, or Ansible provides a distinct advantage.
- Ability to troubleshoot high-speed network links of 400G/800G, including OSFP/QSFP/LPO optics and PRBS diagnostics, is a plus.
- A minimum educational qualification is a BS in a technical field, with a Network focus preferred. Industry certifications are also valued.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for audiences from engineering staff to executive management.
- Prior customer-facing experience or a background in Technical Support TAC roles is highly desired.
Compensation Information
The base pay for this position ranges from CAD 85,000 to 150,000. Arista tailors pay ranges based on work location to ensure competitiveness. The actual offer considers skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and location. This range reflects base salary only. Certain roles may qualify for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Sales-eligible roles can participate in the Sales Incentive Plan, earning commissions based on eligible sales. All employees receive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing support, income protection, and a Group Retirement Savings Plan. Specific details are shared during the hiring process based on role and location.
