About the Position
The Technical Solutions Engineer operates as a top-tier technical resource, equivalent to a Tier 3 or Escalation Engineer, within a non-siloed support framework. This role owns the complete customer journey from initial inquiry to final resolution, requiring independent daily judgment and execution. The position is responsible for supporting all Arista products and the extensive range of network protocols and features inherent to the Extensible Operating System (EOS). Success in this role requires direct collaboration with customers, as well as close coordination with software and hardware development teams to recreated issues in a dedicated laboratory environment. This structure streamlines the support process and elevates customer satisfaction by providing expert-level technical insight at the earliest opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Interaction & Resolution: Serve as the primary technical voice for customers, responding to product inquiries via telephone and written communication. Resolve complex issues related to installation, operation, maintenance, and product application or compatibility.
- Technical Investigation & Analysis: Troubleshoot problems concerning hardware equipment and software applications, recommending and guiding the implementation of corrective actions. Perform protocol analysis to validate configurations and behavior for diverse client environments.
- Laboratory Recreates: Conduct all technical investigations and issue recreations within a dedicated lab environment to isolate root causes and validate solutions.
- Solution Design & Validation: Design end-to-end network paths to address customer issues in a lab setting. Translate dense customer requirements into test cases that verify correct feature interaction and system behavior.
- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Document customer communications, recurring technical issues, and root cause findings. This documentation supports product quality programs and provides critical input to software and hardware development teams to drive long-term product improvements. Craft clear written explanations for complex network behaviors observed onsite.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner directly with hardware teams to isolate platform-specific faults and with education groups to align certification goals with real-world networking demands.
- Customer Enablement: Lead customer walkthroughs designed to reduce repeat contacts and improve overall satisfaction by empowering clients with a deep understanding of their network infrastructure.
Required Qualifications and Technical Skills
- Professional Experience: A minimum of one to five years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, configuring, supporting, troubleshooting, debugging, and administering complex network infrastructure is mandatory.
- Networking Expertise: A working knowledge of the networking industry, products, and protocols is non-negotiable. You must possess a deep understanding of the following technologies:
- Security & Access: AAA, TACACS, ACL, ARP
- Routing Protocols: BGP (RFC 4271), OSPF (RFC 2328), PIM, RIP
- Switching & Bridging: Ethernet (IEEE 802.3ab & IEEE 802.3ae), LACP, LLDP, STP/RSTP/MST (IEEE 802.1d), VLAN (IEEE 802.1q), VARP/VRRP
- Core Infrastructure: DHCP, Flow Control, ICMP, IGMP, IPv4 & IPv6, MPLS, NAT, Open Flow, Sflow
- Management & Monitoring: SNMP
- Virtualization & Services: VRF
- Analysis & Tools: A strong comfort level with Linux-based tools is required. Experience with troubleshooting tools such as IXIA, tcpdump, and Wireshark (or similar packet generation and analysis tools) is expected during active investigations.
- Programming & Scripting: Familiarity with programming and scripting languages, including but not limited to C++, Java, Python, Perl, JavaScript, and shell scripting, is a significant professional advantage.

Education and Certification
A minimum educational requirement is a Master of Science (MS) degree in a technical field, such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Information Technology. Industry certifications and prior Technical Assistance Center (TAC) experience are preferred and will strengthen your application.
Compensation and Location
This is a full-time position based in Dublin, Ireland. The offered compensation for this role is 80,000.00 EUR per year.
