About the role
Network Systems Software Engineer at Arista Networks seeks Senior and Lead Network Systems Software Engineers. This role centers on network systems software, which manages hardware components within switches and routers. You will collaborate with customers, product management, and hardware engineers. Your work will design and build features ensuring Arista hardware operates effectively and efficiently. You will write software controlling temperature sensors, fan controllers, power controllers, storage devices, FPGAs, NICs, and PCIE switches. You will create abstractions for easy integration into hardware drivers managing all Arista hardware. You will design solutions to accelerate key functions using hardware and FPGAs to improve system performance. You will work closely with hardware engineers across the product lifecycle, influencing hardware designs and bringing new hardware to market.

You will interface with customers, product management, and hardware engineers to develop innovative network systems features.
You will architect, design, and manage the development of these features.
You will develop and maintain features using C, C++, and Python.
You will review and contribute to functional and design specifications.
Requirements
You must possess a BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
You must bring four years of relevant experience to this role.
You need expert-level knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
You must understand UNIX or Linux internals at a practical level.
Hands-on experience with hardware device drivers or system management utilities is required.
An understanding of IP networking or distributed systems is advantageous for this position.
Experience with low-level hardware components is considered a plus for this role.
You apply solid software engineering principles to your work on a daily basis.
You possess strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills when facing complex issues.
You can design and implement features independently while maintaining high standards.
