What you'll do
- Provide technical guidance on the design and implementation of Appian solutions for customers utilizing private cloud or on-premise systems, as well as integrating with government cloud offerings.
- Assist in the sales process by developing differentiated solutions that merge Appian technology with project management disciplines and delivery roadmaps.
- Present integrated solutions and complex technical designs to clients and stakeholders.
- Support customers in configuring, testing, deploying, and operating Appian applications while adhering to agile methodologies and best practices.
- Collaborate with clients to enhance technical success and efficiency, advising on development practices, program management, and automation strategies.
- Lead the creation of innovative offerings within Appian Customer Success to enhance delivery capabilities, incorporating emerging requirements from clients and industry trends.
- Gather and analyze technical challenges with a team of architects to establish best practices and standardized solutions.
- Contribute to the development and review of whitepapers and pre-sales proposals.
- Guide Department of War (DoW) clients on utilizing Appian as a connector for mission and business processes across existing systems, employing features like Data Fabric for data integration.
- Design Appian solution architectures for DoW modernization efforts, linking workflows, case management, process automation, and data orchestration.
- Demonstrate experience within the DoW ecosystem or related mission systems, including command and control, cyber, and intelligence operations.
- Apply knowledge of DoW enterprise systems and modernization programs, such as ECMA and GCSS.
- Collaborate with DoW stakeholders and technical teams to develop architectures that comply with hosting, cybersecurity, and integration requirements.
- Support DoW-focused capture and proposal efforts by translating Appian capabilities into relevant technical solutions and modernization strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in advising on government cloud computing platform design and at least 10 years in multi-tier application architecture.
- Proven experience in architecting secure cloud hosting solutions for federal clients using platforms like Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience in authoring federal proposals and whitepapers.
- Extensive experience managing federal programs and leading IT delivery using agile methodologies, including Scrum and SAFe.
- Familiarity with accelerating IT solutions under the federal government's Risk Management Framework is preferred.
- Knowledge of designing and implementing DevSecOps pipelines and Infrastructure Automation frameworks with tools like Jenkins and Ansible is preferred.
- Willingness to travel 10-15% to support customer engagements, including visits to Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs).

Education and Certifications
- Certifications from AWS, Google, or Azure are advantageous.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
- Certified Scrum Master or other agile certifications are required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a US government public trust or DoD clearance; TS/SCI with CI Poly is strongly preferred.
Practical notes
The base salary for this role ranges from $150,000 to $275,000 USD, depending on experience and qualifications. This position also qualifies for a government clearance differential.
