Key facts
What you'll do
- Prepare and review annual and quarterly financial statements to ensure US GAAP compliance.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing cycles with attention to detail and timeliness.
- Perform technical accounting research for complex areas including ASC 718 stock-based compensation, ASC 815 derivatives, and ASC 842 lease accounting.
- Oversee the operation and implementation of Workiva for reporting and compliance documentation.
- Act as the primary liaison for external auditors to facilitate audit requests and documentation.
- Assist in the design and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting to mitigate risk.
- Coordinate with internal teams including Legal, Tax, Equity Accounting, and Finance & Strategy to align on financial objectives.
- Develop and document internal accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and transparency.
- Lead process improvements for financial reporting workflows using technology and data insights.
- Support the evaluation and adoption of new financial systems and tools to enhance reporting accuracy.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Provide training and guidance to cross-functional teams on financial reporting policies and controls.
- Collaborate with Tax and Equity Accounting teams to ensure proper treatment of complex transactions.
- Track and report on key financial metrics to support leadership in strategic planning and forecasting.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of accounting experience, with a background in public accounting strongly preferred.
- CPA license or active pursuit of CPA certification is required for this role.
- Demonstrated experience with SOX compliance and coordination with external auditors on audit procedures.
- Ability to explain complex accounting topics in a clear manner to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting platforms used in a high-growth environment.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and its application to technology and AI-driven businesses.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative cross-functional team.
- Willingness to engage in continuous learning and adapt to evolving regulatory and business requirements.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of ethics and integrity in financial reporting.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Nice to have
- Experience with SEC reporting and familiarity with regulatory filings such as 10-K and 10-Q.
- Hands-on experience with Workday Financials and integration with reporting systems.
- Familiarity with Python or SQL for automating reporting processes and data analysis.
- Background in supporting fast-growth technology or AI companies.
- Experience implementing and optimizing internal controls in a SaaS environment.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools to enhance financial reporting and dashboards.
