What you'll do

• Develop and maintain robust web scraping tools that efficiently extract data from a variety of online platforms, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Collaborate with the Online Brand Protection team to identify specific data needs and create tailored scraping solutions that meet those requirements.
• Implement data validation and cleaning processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the information gathered through scraping.
• Optimize existing scraping scripts for performance and scalability, ensuring they can handle large volumes of data without compromising speed.
• Monitor and troubleshoot scraping operations, addressing any issues that arise to maintain uninterrupted data collection.
• Stay updated on the latest web technologies and scraping techniques to continuously improve our data extraction processes.
• Work closely with data analysts to provide them with the necessary data sets for further analysis and reporting.
• Document scraping processes and maintain clear records of data sources and methodologies used in data collection.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for enhancing our brand protection strategies through innovative data solutions.
• Assist in training junior developers and team members on best practices for web scraping and data handling.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in web scraping, data extraction, or a similar role.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Ruby, with a strong focus on libraries and frameworks used for web scraping (e.g., Beautiful Soup, Scrapy, Selenium).
• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with experience in working with APIs.
• Familiarity with data storage solutions, including SQL and NoSQL databases, to manage scraped data effectively.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data extraction and processing.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
