Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage and oversee the entire lifecycle of intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
- Conduct thorough prior art searches and analyze existing patents to support the development of new applications and strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, engineering, and marketing, to align IP strategies with business objectives and product development initiatives.
- Prepare and file patent applications, trademark registrations, and other IP-related documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Monitor and evaluate competitor IP activities and industry trends to provide strategic insights and recommendations to clients.
- Assist in the development and implementation of IP policies and procedures, fostering a culture of innovation and protection within the organization.
- Provide training and support to internal stakeholders on IP best practices, helping to raise awareness and understanding of intellectual property issues.
- Manage IP databases and records, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and accessible for internal and external audits.
- Liaise with external legal counsel and patent agents to facilitate the prosecution of IP applications and resolve any disputes that may arise.
- Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, summarizing IP performance metrics and strategic recommendations.
- Participate in IP strategy meetings, contributing insights and expertise to shape the direction of the company's IP portfolio.
- Stay informed about changes in IP laws and regulations, ensuring that the organization remains compliant and competitive in the marketplace.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as law, engineering, or science; advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in intellectual property management, with a focus on patent prosecution and trademark registration.
- Strong understanding of IP laws, regulations, and best practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively in a business context.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to conduct thorough research and synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality in all deliverables.
