What you'll do

• Manage the docketing of patent applications, ensuring all deadlines are met and that documentation is processed accurately and efficiently.
• Review incoming correspondence from patent offices and clients to determine necessary actions and deadlines.
• Maintain and update the patent docketing database, ensuring all information is current and accurate.
• Collaborate with attorneys and clients to gather necessary information for patent filings and responses.
• Prepare and file patent applications with various patent offices, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Monitor and track the status of pending patent applications, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
• Assist in the preparation of reports related to patent portfolio management, including status updates and analytics.
• Conduct regular audits of the patent docket to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues.
• Provide training and support to junior staff members in patent docketing processes and best practices.
• Stay informed about changes in patent laws and regulations that may affect docketing procedures.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss ongoing projects, challenges, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for docketing tasks.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in patent docketing or a related field within intellectual property.
• Strong understanding of patent laws, regulations, and procedures.
• Proficiency in using patent docketing software and databases, with a preference for experience with Bamboohr's systems.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients and team members.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Familiarity with legal terminology and documentation related to patent filings.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• A degree in law, engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
• Experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department focused on intellectual property.
