Senior Product Manager, Application Framework

About the role

Anaplan is seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead the development and dissemination of our application ecosystem. This role is in establishing best practices for building applications on the Anaplan platform, with a focus on ensuring these applications are scalable, adaptable, and interconnected. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, professional services, and customer success, to drive the adoption of these methodologies across the organization. Your efforts will help enhance customer value, improve scalability, and ensure consistency in application development practices. This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of platform architecture and a proven ability to influence teams without direct authority.

What you'll do

• Develop and promote a comprehensive strategic framework for building scalable, interconnected, and configurable applications on the Anaplan platform.
• Establish and maintain official guidelines and standards for application architecture, emphasizing configurability, upgradeability, and long-term maintainability.
• Lead initiatives to embed the application methodology into product development processes, professional services delivery, and partner engagements.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, customer success teams, and professional services to ensure widespread understanding and consistent application of the framework.
• Serve as the primary subject matter expert on application architecture, providing insights, writing whitepapers, and representing Anaplan at industry events and conferences.
• Translate the strategic framework into detailed product requirements and specifications that guide the Application Framework teams' development efforts.
• Drive the adoption of best practices across the organization by creating training materials, conducting workshops, and enabling teams to implement the methodology effectively.
• Gather feedback from stakeholders and continuously refine the application framework to incorporate industry best practices and emerging trends.
• Support the creation of documentation, tutorials, and other resources to facilitate understanding and adoption of the application standards.
• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings to ensure the application framework remains innovative and aligned with market needs.
• Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the teams responsible for application development and architecture.
• Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units to ensure that application architecture aligns with customer needs and strategic goals.
• Assist in developing metrics and KPIs to measure the success of the application framework implementation and its impact on customer satisfaction and platform scalability.
• Participate in strategic planning sessions to align the application framework initiatives with broader company objectives.
• Support the onboarding and mentoring of new team members, sharing expertise and best practices related to application architecture.

Requirements

• Extensive experience working with Anaplan, recognized as an authority in model building and application architecture, with a proven track record of designing and implementing complex, scalable solutions.
• Strong strategic thinking skills related to platform architecture, with the ability to develop and communicate a clear vision for application development practices.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and align diverse teams and stakeholders across technical and non-technical domains without direct authority.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of crafting compelling narratives, whitepapers, and presentations for varied audiences, including executive leadership.
• Deep understanding of Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) concepts and customer needs within this domain.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into accessible language for non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive, collaborative, and customer-focused mindset, with a passion for driving excellence and continuous improvement.
• Experience in leading cross-functional initiatives, managing multiple priorities, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about platform architecture and application development.
• Knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends in application architecture and SaaS platform scalability.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and product lifecycle management.

• Prior experience in product management or platform strategy roles within SaaS or enterprise software companies.
• Familiarity with other enterprise SaaS platforms and their application development frameworks.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and deployment strategies relevant to SaaS platforms.
• Experience working with global teams and managing stakeholder expectations across different regions.
• Understanding of data security, compliance, and regulatory considerations related to enterprise applications.
• Background in technical writing, whitepapers, or industry presentations.

Practical notes

Base Salary Range: $152,000 - $219,000 USD
