Key facts

What you'll do

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes to ensure timely reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and provide insights that support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, monitoring variances and providing explanations for deviations.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in the preparation of tax returns, including sales tax, income tax, and other applicable filings.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and ensure best practices.
• Mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
• Utilize accounting software and ERP systems to streamline processes and improve reporting capabilities.
• Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by management to support strategic initiatives.
• Monitor cash flow and assist in cash management activities to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed, contributing financial expertise to support company goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with [specific software used by Anaergia] is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

• CPA designation or equivalent professional certification is preferred but not required.

• Knowledge of financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
• Experience with project accounting and cost management.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
