About the role
The Systems is responsible for owning the complete lifecycle of hardware products, ensuring that each circuit path is meticulously managed from initial schematic capture through to deployed firmware updates in the field. You will translate abstract sensor concepts into concrete and robust hardware and firmware implementations that reliably function across the distributed hub ecosystem. This role requires close collaboration with engineering peers in both Lviv and Kyiv, while granting you the local authority to make technical and product decisions for your assigned scope. You will actively participate in defining product requirements, validating hardware revisions, and coordinating with distributed stakeholders to align on goals. A core part of your work involves designing circuit behavior and writing firmware for complex sensor modules and hub platforms that are built upon the Malevich OS foundation. You will coordinate the intake of hardware change requests and user feedback, converting this input into concrete and actionable improvement targets for the product. The position also requires you to define partner interfaces to guarantee reliable communication between mobile applications and updated hub firmware. Additionally, you will implement integration tests that validate sensor drivers and network stacks under diverse load conditions to ensure system stability.

What you'll do
- Execute the work posted for the Senior Embedded Engineer position, translating product requirements into functional firmware and hardware solutions.
- Design and develop firmware using C and C++ for complex sensor modules and hub platforms that run on the Malevich OS real-time operating system.
- Coordinate the intake of hardware change requests and user feedback, analyzing this input to define and prioritize concrete improvement targets for the product.
- Collaborate with engineering teams in Lviv and Kyiv, retaining local technical authority while ensuring alignment with distributed project goals and timelines.
- Structure and maintain automated build pipelines that produce firmware images and stage-specific artifacts, streamlining the release process.
- Review oscilloscope traces and system logs to verify precise timing, electrical behavior, and strict compliance with communication protocols.
- Define and document partner interfaces to ensure reliable and stable communication between mobile applications and updated hub firmware.
- Implement integration tests that validate sensor drivers and network stacks under diverse load and environmental conditions.
- Prepare ship materials such as release notes, version tags, and deployment documentation to support the production and launch of hardware products.
- Maintain operational documentation covering configuration options, debugging processes, and system behavior to support both internal and external stakeholders.
- Utilize version control systems, specifically Git, to manage source code changes and collaborate effectively with the engineering team.
- Conduct hands-on debugging using instruments such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and serial loggers to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
Requirements
- Must possess three years of professional experience writing C or C++ code in production environments, demonstrating a solid track record in embedded development.
- Must have demonstrated hands-on experience with communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN, understanding their strengths and limitations.
- Must understand memory limitations common to microcontrollers and embedded networking stacks to write efficient and stable code.
- Must exhibit proficiency with debugging instruments such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and serial loggers to troubleshoot complex hardware and software interactions.
- Must be able to work effectively across time zones, maintaining productivity and clear communication with remote colleagues.
- Must possess the ability to document technical decisions comprehensively to ensure clarity and continuity for distributed team members.
- Must have a strong grasp of hardware design principles to translate sensor concepts into reliable physical implementations.
- Must be capable of validating hardware revisions and firmware updates to ensure they meet product requirements and quality standards.
Nice to have
- Prior experience with real-time operating systems and writing drivers for sensor hardware is valued and will be considered an advantage.
