About the role
You will serve as the technical owner for Finance integration initiatives at Airbnb, defining long-term architecture and ensuring delivery excellence while mentoring a diverse team of engineers. Your responsibilities will span strategy, implementation, and operations, ensuring that financial data and services flow reliably across the global organization. You will work closely with Finance, Procurement, and other stakeholders to transform complex requirements into automated, production-grade solutions that uphold the highest standards of reliability. You will own the complete lifecycle of Finance integration projects, from initial discovery through deployment and ongoing optimization, driving systems that are both robust and scalable. What you'll do
- Lead the discovery and design of finance integration solutions, collaborating with Finance, Procurement, and product teams to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications.
- Architect and build integrations using Java or Python, connecting internal services, external APIs, and MCPs with a focus on resilience, security, and performance.
- Define and enforce integration contracts and service boundaries, ensuring that financial data flows are consistent, traceable, and auditable across systems.
- Implement rigorous code review practices and introduce observability measures such as logging, metrics, and tracing to catch defects early in the development lifecycle.
- Partner with Finance and Procurement stakeholders to automate workflows and reporting dashboards, reducing manual effort and increasing accuracy of financial operations.
- Safeguard month-end closing processes by building and maintaining stable integrations, proactively identifying bottlenecks, and driving timely resolutions to prevent disruptions.
- Monitor the evolving GenAI landscape, evaluating new models and methodologies to determine how LLMs and related tools can enhance automation and decision support within finance workflows.
- Mentor engineers across the team, fostering career growth and knowledge sharing while maintaining a high standard of engineering excellence and ownership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize technical debt reduction, scalability improvements, and long-term maintainability of integration platforms.
- Act as a subject matter expert on Oracle Cloud ERP finance modules, ensuring that integrations adhere to best practices and support critical financial processes such as R2R, P2P, AP, and AR.
- Drive the adoption of integration patterns and standards across the organization, promoting consistency and reusability of integration components.
- Contribute to the broader engineering community by documenting solutions, sharing learnings, and advocating for sustainable development practices.
- Evaluate and integrate with Oracle Integration Cloud and OCI/PaaS services where appropriate, leveraging existing cloud infrastructure to optimize cost and performance.
- Continuously assess the effectiveness of integrations, using data and feedback to iterate on improvements and ensure alignment with evolving business needs.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of building and operating production systems that handle critical financial workloads.
- Demonstrate proven experience in leading engineering teams, including mentoring junior developers and fostering the career growth of senior staff through constructive feedback and development opportunities.
- Show a deep understanding of ERP systems, with specific expertise in Oracle Cloud ERP and its core Finance modules, including R2R, P2P, AP, and AR, and how they interconnect within enterprise environments.
- Exhibit expert-level skills in Java or Python, using these languages to construct integration solutions and backend services from foundational components without relying on excessive abstraction.
- Prove proficiency in relational databases and SQL, enabling you to write efficient, scalable queries that support high-volume financial data processing and reporting needs.
- Excel in cross-functional collaboration, influencing stakeholders without direct authority and building trust through consistent delivery and transparent communication.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, explaining intricate technical topics in clear terms to support decision-making and stakeholder alignment.
