Staff Platform Manager, Payments Regional Growth
Job description
About the role
Leading Regional Payments for Latin America
This role is a critical opportunity within Airbnb's global Payments organization. You will guide how guests book and hosts get paid across a vibrant and diverse part of the world. Your work will directly impact trust and revenue in markets that are fundamental to our business. You will operate at the intersection of product strategy, regulation, and commerce, turning complex constraints into elegant solutions.
The Opportunity
Airbnb was founded in 2007 with a simple act of hospitality in San Francisco. Today, that ethos has grown into a global network of over 5 million hosts welcoming more than 2 billion guest arrivals. Payments sits at the heart of this marketplace, enabling these connections safely and reliably. The team builds and supports commerce across 191 countries, handles 70 currencies, connects with numerous financial partners, and moves billions of dollars annually.
You will join a team dedicated to building a world-class payments and commerce organization. The Platform team acts as a conductor, aligning engineers, designers, and data scientists. Payments Platform Managers are responsible for outcomes across foundation, growth, and empowerment. They set the vision, define the roadmap, and drive execution. We seek individuals who use Airbnb themselves and believe in our mission.
Latin America represents one of our fastest-growing and most strategic regions. Success here requires navigating intricate, country-specific regulations, deeply established local payment ecosystems, and evolving compliance demands. The goal is to unlock growth through local payment methods, optimized checkout flows, and flexible affordability options. We are seeking a Product Manager to own the regional payments portfolio end-to-end and lead one of Payments' highest-impact areas.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
You will set the strategic north star for regional payments across Brazil, Mexico, and neighboring markets. This involves balancing regulatory obligations with ambitious growth targets. You will own the complete lifecycle of products that move money.
Your daily focus will include optimizing the booking journey to reduce friction. You will analyze conversion metrics to improve authorization rates and payment success. This directly increases bookings and guest satisfaction. You will also expand local payment methods and introduce affordability tools like installments. These efforts are designed to improve access and conversion for diverse travelers.
You will drive discovery, write PRDs, and manage product launches. A key part of this is running experiments and A/B tests to validate impact before and after release. You will define technical requirements for integrations with payment processors and partners. This requires close collaboration with Engineering and Partnerships teams to ensure delivery and performance.
Regulatory and compliance work will be a major component. You will lead workstreams with Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Finance teams. This ensures we meet local market requirements while maintaining speed. You will also define and track key performance indicators related to conversion, cost, and reliability. Data will guide how you prioritize efforts across the funnel.
Monitoring the market is another core duty. You will keep a pulse on regulatory changes, competitor actions, and new payment rails. This insight will directly reshape the roadmap for future growth cycles. You will partner with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Design, Data Science, Finance, and Country teams. You will guide execution without direct authority.
What You Need
Your background should include ten or more years of product management. You must have a track record of building and scaling payments or financial products. Experience bringing products to launch and managing them at scale is essential. You should understand the full flow of money in a marketplace. This includes payins, payouts, and reconciliation.
You have sharp instincts for reducing checkout friction. You use data to design and run experiments that improve the user experience. You can communicate effectively with executives, engineers, and regulators. This is true even when problems are complex and ambiguous. You use data to make tough tradeoffs and set priorities.
You are experienced navigating the regulatory landscapes of Brazil and Mexico. You understand how to keep products compliant without sacrificing competitiveness. You are comfortable making decisions in environments with multiple constraints.
