Staff, Advanced Analytics, Incubations
Job description
About the role
Airbnb seeks a Staff, Advanced Analytics professional who will own the complete analytics strategy for the Long-Term Stay & Luxe incubator from day one. This role requires defining what gets measured, building the foundational quantitative models, and acting as the primary strategic partner to the product and business leadership teams. The hire will set the measurement agenda and prioritize work based on data-driven recommendations that unlock growth and efficiency. You will design experiments, construct underlying data pipelines, and develop models that forecast performance and guide key decisions. Success in this position means moving fast within high-ambiguity environments while maintaining rigorous analytical standards. You will translate complex findings into clear narratives that directly influence product direction and investment priorities.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the end-to-end analytics strategy and roadmap for Long-Term Stay & Luxe, determining measurement priorities and identifying the highest-leverage opportunities.
- Build and evolve core quantitative models such as supply-demand balance, marketplace liquidity, pricing and take-rate models, and LTV forecasting, creating the underlying data pipelines and logic.
- Design and analyze experiments covering pricing, search and ranking, host onboarding, and guest conversion, developing causal-inference approaches when randomized trials are not feasible.
- Partner proactively with product, general management, and cross-functional leaders, surfacing insights and recommendations before they are requested and shaping the team's roadmap.
- Create scalable, self-serve reporting and OKR tracking systems that provide leadership with real-time visibility into two fast-moving, still-forming businesses.
- Operate effectively in high-ambiguity, high-intensity conditions where metrics and priorities evolve quickly, treating these challenges as energizing rather than draining.
- Translate complex analytical results into clear, actionable narratives for senior stakeholders, balancing technical depth with accessible storytelling.
- Identify constraints and risks within the Long-Term Stay & Luxe incubator, proposing data-driven mitigations and monitoring frameworks.
- Establish testing best practices, defining guardrails, success metrics, and post-launch evaluation processes for ongoing optimization.
- Drive a culture of evidence-based decision-making across the team, ensuring that insights lead to concrete actions and measurable outcomes.
Requirements
- Bring 8+ years of experience in analytics, data science, or a similarly quantitative role, with a track record of operating at scale.
- Demonstrate prior marketplace experience in environments such as Zillow, Airbnb, Uber, DoorDash, or Etsy, or have incubated a business from 0 to 1.
- Show a history of acting as a proactive strategic partner to senior product and business leaders, contributing viewpoints rather than only responding to questions.
- Communicate effectively across levels, flexing between technical depth and clear, senior-stakeholder storytelling.
- Exhibit a genuine passion for the work and a high tolerance for intensity, thriving amid ambiguity, shifting priorities, and rapid pace.
- Build and deploy quantitative models independently, including supply-demand, pricing, matching, LTV, and forecasting models that underpin business logic.
- Design and interpret A/B experiments, and apply causal-inference methods such as holdouts, proxy metrics, and quasi-experimental approaches when traditional testing is constrained by volume or booking cycles.
- Navigate evolving business models, metrics, and priorities without losing effectiveness or focus.
Nice to have
- Experience with supply/demand modeling or geo-based analytics in a marketplace setting.
- Exposure to growth marketing analytics, including channels such as SEM, paid social, and performance marketing.
- Familiarity with experimentation platforms and instrumentation best practices in high-scale digital products.
- Background in incubating new products or features within an existing marketplace or two-sided platform.
- Comfort with forecasting and LTV methodologies in subscription or long-term booking environments.
- Experience building self-serve analytics tools that enable other teams to explore data safely and efficiently.
Practical notes
