About the role

Agoda is seeking a technical leader to manage our DevOps engineering team in Bangkok. You will oversee the automation of our software development lifecycle and build internal tools that support our global R&D operations. This position requires a balance of hands-on coding, system architecture, and direct personnel management. You will be responsible for writing and reviewing code while providing technical mentorship to your team on a daily basis. A key part of this role involves managing CI/CD pipelines at a scale of approximately 1 million executions per month to ensure reliability and performance. You will oversee central development systems including source control, service discovery, and security automation to maintain best practices. Additionally, you will build and maintain full-stack internal web portals to improve developer efficiency and streamline workflows. Leading and growing a team of engineers will be central to your success, with a focus on recruitment and individual professional development. You will align development and operations workflows to ensure high-quality, secure output that supports the organization's global objectives.

What you'll do

Requirements

• Proven experience managing engineering teams with at least 5 direct reports to develop leadership and delegation skills.
• Strong proficiency in a modern programming language, specifically Python or Go, to write clean and maintainable code.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle from design to deployment to ensure end-to-end ownership.
• Experience with Git, CI systems, Docker, and Kubernetes to manage containerized applications effectively.
• Ability to work autonomously, set KPIs, and drive results using data-backed decision-making to optimize operations.
• Background in managing Agile scrum teams to facilitate sprints, stand-ups, and retrospectives successfully.
• Understanding of infrastructure principles and cloud services to design scalable and resilient architectures.

Nice to have

• Experience with configuration management, specifically Ansible, to automate deployment and configuration tasks.
• Full-stack development skills, preferably using React.js and Go, to bridge the gap between frontend and backend systems.
• Proficiency in container orchestration with Kubernetes to manage container deployments at scale.
• Experience with Hashicorp products such as Consul or Vault to handle service discovery and secure secrets management.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Elastic, and MSSQL to optimize data storage and retrieval.

This role is based in Bangkok, Thailand, and operates on a full-time engagement basis within the Data Department. The Engineering Manager - Devops will be expected to adhere to local working hours and participate in all team activities as scheduled. Travel may be required within the Bangkok metropolitan area and occasionally to other regional offices depending on business needs. Candidates must be eligible to work in Thailand without sponsorship, as the company cannot provide visa sponsorship for this position.
