About the role
Agoda is seeking a Consultant to join the Global Employee Relations Team in Kuala Lumpur. This role involves partnering with Legal, Compliance, and HR teams to manage complex employee situations while refining internal management practices. You will provide guidance to leadership and ensure that company culture is maintained through sound decision-making and policy enforcement. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor, navigating sensitive issues with professionalism and integrity. Key facts
What you'll do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for company policy and compliance inquiries, responding to complex questions from leaders and employees.
- Advise managers on handling misconduct and performance improvement plans, ensuring approaches are legally sound and aligned with Agoda values.
- Oversee disciplinary actions and terminations while ensuring adherence to local labor laws and minimizing legal risk for the organization.
- Conduct objective investigations into grievances and allegations, identifying root causes and patterns to improve organizational processes.
- Maintain detailed case documentation and provide regular updates to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and transparency throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Review performance and misconduct data to suggest training or policy updates that address recurring issues or systemic gaps.
- Support a specific department as an HR Business Partner to provide actionable insights that enhance team performance and engagement.
- Automate and optimize internal workflows, including offboarding and performance management systems, to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve escalated matters promptly and uphold the integrity of HR policies.
- Develop standardized procedures for employee relations issues to ensure consistency and compliance across all regions.
- Monitor changes in local employment legislation and assess the impact on company policies and practices.
- Facilitate communication between employees and management to foster a fair and respectful workplace environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Law, Human Resources, or a related field, providing a foundational understanding of legal and organizational principles.
- 6-8 years of experience in HR Business Partnering, Generalist, or Employee Relations roles, demonstrating a proven track record in complex people operations.
- Proficiency in employment law, workforce reduction projects, and managing complex employee relations issues to navigate sensitive situations effectively.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for clear communication with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Strong judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and high-stakes situations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment, balancing urgent requests with strategic initiatives.
- A demonstrated commitment to upholding ethical standards and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Willingness to collaborate with global teams and adapt to different cultural norms while maintaining a unified company approach.
