About the role
Agoda is seeking a dedicated Localization Specialist to join our team based in Bangkok, Thailand. This role is fundamental to our ability to communicate effectively with a global audience and ensure our message resonates across different languages and cultures. You will own the end-to-end localization process, transforming complex requirements into clear, accurate, and timely content for our international users. The position is based in our Bangkok office and reports directly to the local leadership team. Success in this role is measured by the quality, consistency, and timeliness of translations delivered across all customer touchpoints, from booking flows to customer support documentation. You will be the central point of contact for ensuring that Agoda's brand voice remains strong and coherent in every language. This is a hands-on role focused on execution, where your work will directly impact how millions of travelers around the world experience our platform.

What you'll do
- Execute the complete localization workflow for all content requiring translation, from initial request intake through to final delivery and quality assurance.
- Safeguard content accuracy by meticulously reviewing all translations for websites, mobile applications, email communications, and promotional materials before they go live.
- Champion and enforce quality standards for tourism campaigns, legal documentation, and partner collateral, ensuring precision even under strict time constraints.
- Design, maintain, and evolve clear style guides, checklists, and procedural rules to standardize the handling of content updates and urgent requests by all translators.
- Coordinate closely with external translation vendors and internal departments such as marketing, legal, and product to meet launch targets without compromising on accuracy or brand integrity.
- Prepare comprehensive content packages that provide context and guidance to external partners, enabling them to produce correct localized versions on schedule.
- Evaluate new localization requests, estimate necessary resources, and determine the appropriate level of effort, timeline, and complexity for each project.
- Protect and refine the Agoda brand voice by continuously improving tone, ensuring correct glossary application, and maintaining cultural relevance across every customer interaction.
- Manage rapid response to urgent localization issues that arise during campaigns, system outages, or critical edits that require immediate attention.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve localization efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance the overall quality of the translation ecosystem.
- Act as a subject matter expert on localization best practices, providing guidance and training to cross-functional partners on content strategy and translation workflows.
- Monitor industry trends in translation technology and tourism localization to recommend new tools and methodologies that can benefit the team.
- Ensure all localized content aligns with legal and regulatory requirements specific to the markets Agoda operates in.
- Drive continuous improvement by analyzing localization metrics, gathering feedback from stakeholders, and implementing actionable changes to processes and standards.
- Collaborate with product managers to ensure that source content is optimized for localization, reducing complexity and turnaround time for translations.
Requirements
- Demonstrate a proven ability to convert requests into accurate localized content while respecting tight deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
- Possess equal proficiency in Thai and English, with strong writing skills and contextual understanding in both languages.
- Have a deep understanding of how local markets in Thailand and other relevant regions consume travel information to adapt messaging effectively.
- Show strong skills in deadline management, stakeholder communication, and revision control to maintain a high level of detail and clarity in all work.
- Bring previous experience in tourism, hospitality, or e-commerce localization, which is considered a significant advantage for this role.
- Exhibit a strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and consistency in all deliverables.
- Be comfortable working independently and as part of a distributed, multicultural team.
- Have a solid grasp of localization principles, including translation memory, terminology management, and style guide implementation.
Technical Skills and Tools
- Demonstrate professional fluency in Thai and English, both written and verbal.
- Possess technical expertise in using CAT tools, translation memory systems, and translation management platforms.
- Show strict adherence to style guides and glossary management to ensure consistency across all projects.
- Have experience with content management systems and tools used for localization workflows.
- Be proficient in file preparation, formatting, and handling various file types commonly used in localization projects.
