What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive epidemiological studies to assess health trends and disease outbreaks within the military community and surrounding areas.
- Analyze and interpret complex health data using statistical software and methodologies to identify patterns and risk factors.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, public health officials, and military personnel to develop effective health interventions and policies.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders, including military leadership and public health agencies.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health programs and initiatives, making recommendations for improvements based on data-driven insights.
- Design and implement surveillance systems to track infectious diseases and other health-related issues.
- Participate in research projects and contribute to scientific publications to advance the field of epidemiology.
- Provide training and support to staff and colleagues on epidemiological methods and best practices.
- Stay updated on the latest research and developments in epidemiology and public health to inform practice and policy.
- Engage with community partners to promote health education and awareness initiatives.
- Assist in grant writing and funding proposals to support ongoing research and health initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulations in all research and data collection activities.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field; a Doctorate is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in epidemiological research or public health practice.
- Strong proficiency in statistical analysis software such as SAS, R, or SPSS.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting epidemiological studies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to data integrity and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of military health systems and public health policies is a plus.
- Familiarity with ethical guidelines and regulations related to human subjects research.
Nice to have
- Certification from the American Board of Epidemiology or a related professional organization.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for health mapping and analysis.
- Background in infectious disease epidemiology or environmental health.
- Previous experience working in a military or government setting.
- Proficiency in additional languages is a valuable asset.
