What you'll do
- Coordinate with healthcare providers, air transport teams, and patients to ensure seamless communication and care throughout the aeromedical transport process.
- Assess patient medical needs and conditions to determine the appropriate level of care required during transport.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize patient safety and comfort during air travel.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting care plans as necessary to address any changes in medical status.
- Collaborate with insurance companies and other stakeholders to facilitate the approval and funding of aeromedical transport services.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, transport logistics, and communications with all parties involved.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding the aeromedical transport process and what to expect during their journey.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness and safety of aeromedical services.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, regulations, and advancements in aeromedical care to ensure compliance and optimal patient outcomes.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and transport teams to resolve any issues that may arise during the transport process.
- Conduct regular training and workshops for staff to enhance their understanding of aeromedical protocols and patient care standards.
- Engage in community outreach and education efforts to raise awareness about the importance of aeromedical services and the role of case management in patient care.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in case management, preferably within a healthcare or aeromedical setting.
- Current nursing license or relevant certification in case management.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, aeromedical protocols, and patient care standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare software applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of insurance processes and experience in working with various healthcare payers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
