What you'll do
- Find and secure permission for user-generated content to ensure compliance with copyright and privacy standards.
- Propose daily weather-related content ideas for social posts that align with current events and seasonal patterns.
- Coordinate contributions from various sources and individuals for social channels to gather diverse and accurate material.
- Monitor social networks for comments, questions, and user content to maintain an active and responsive community presence.
- Respond to users and collaborate with internal teams for issue resolution to uphold a positive brand image.
- Analyze data from social media analytics tools to understand performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Research new and existing social network developments through industry resources to stay informed about best practices.
- Compile reports on trending weather topics and relevant conversations to guide future content planning.
- Assist with other assigned tasks that support the goals of the Social Media Team and broader organizational objectives.
- Review trending weather hashtags and topics to incorporate relevant themes into daily posting schedules.
- Draft clear and concise captions that translate complex meteorological data into accessible language for general audiences.
- Manage content calendars in coordination with the team to ensure consistent and timely delivery of posts.
- Liaise with graphic designers and copy editors to refine visual and textual elements before publication.
- Track engagement metrics on a weekly basis to assess the effectiveness of different types of content.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing, or a related field with a writing focus.
- Proven experience using platforms like Facebook and Twitter to engage with diverse audiences.
- Basic knowledge of image editing to prepare visuals for social media deployment.
- Ability to grasp and explain basic scientific and meteorological concepts in a clear and accurate manner.
- Demonstrated self-motivation, teamwork, and ability to perform under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information professionally and concisely.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends to support global time zones and peak engagement periods.
- Familiarity with social media best practices and community management principles.
