About the role
You will own the end-to-end strategy and delivery for our core merchant product suite within the Point of Sale business, defining what great merchant experiences look like across integrations, APIs, and ecommerce plugins. You will partner deeply with Engineering, Commercial, and Product Marketing to shape product direction, influence investment decisions, and ensure our merchant offerings align with both customer needs and business objectives. You will become the definitive voice of our merchants across the organization, translating their feedback and market dynamics into clear product requirements and roadmaps. You will balance commercial opportunity with technical feasibility, owning the complexity of B2B problems while driving solutions that create meaningful, measurable business impact. You will define and own key product metrics, using data to validate hypotheses, prioritize features, and continuously iterate toward optimal merchant experiences. You will work cross-functionally to ensure onboarding journeys, APIs, and ecommerce plugins deliver seamless, intuitive experiences that merchants can rely on every day. You will act as a strategic partner to commercial teams, helping them articulate value propositions and support merchant growth initiatives with robust product tools. You will champion innovation within the Merchant Experience Squad, exploring new ways to empower hundreds of merchants across the UK to offer Zopa's products to their customers effectively.

What you'll do
Define and own the product vision and roadmap for the Merchant Experience Squad, ensuring alignment with Zopa's overarching business strategy and merchant needs.
Translate complex B2B requirements into clear product specifications, working alongside Engineering to deliver reliable integrations, APIs, and ecommerce plugins.
Become the central point of contact for all merchant-related insights, synthesizing feedback, market trends, and data to inform strategic decisions.
Collaborate with Commercial teams to identify growth opportunities, ensuring product capabilities support monetization and customer expansion goals.
Partner with Product Marketing to develop compelling narratives and value propositions that resonate with our diverse merchant base.
Lead discovery and validation activities, using prototypes, interviews, and data analysis to test ideas before significant investment.
Define and monitor key product metrics, establishing clear success criteria and iterating based on performance and merchant feedback.
Own the end-to-end delivery of critical onboarding journeys, ensuring they are intuitive, efficient, and scalable for both merchants and integrators.
Work closely with Engineering leads to break down epics into manageable deliverables, balancing ambition with technical constraints and timelines.
Advocate for merchant needs internally, ensuring their voice is heard in prioritization discussions and trade-off decisions.
Collaborate with Customer Support and Operations to identify friction points and drive improvements that enhance merchant satisfaction.
Support the launch of new features and products, designing go-to-market approaches that enable Commercial teams to engage merchants effectively.
Contribute to the broader product culture at Zopa by sharing learnings, best practices, and frameworks that elevate product excellence across the organization.
Act as a strategic thinker and executor, balancing short-term delivery pressures with long-term vision for the merchant product portfolio.
Requirements
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, demonstrating a solid educational background or comparable expertise in a relevant field.
You possess 5+ years of product management experience, with a proven track record of delivering B2B products in a fast-paced, agile environment.
You have experience working with data, analytics, and financial metrics, using insights to drive decision-making and measure product success.
You are comfortable operating in a dynamic, ambiguous environment, showing resilience and adaptability when facing complex business challenges.
You have strong written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate product rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You demonstrate ownership and accountability, taking initiative to solve problems end-to-end without needing constant direction.
You have experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Operations, to deliver cohesive product outcomes.
You understand the fundamentals of software development and integration, enabling you to work effectively with technical teams and assess feasibility.
You have a commercial mindset, balancing customer value with business viability, and are comfortable making decisions that impact revenue and growth.
You are committed to building inclusive products and experiences, considering diverse user needs and perspectives in your decision-making.

Nice to have
Experience in financial services or lending platforms, with an understanding of how regulated environments influence product decisions.
Familiarity with API and integration product management, including working with technical teams on connectivity and security considerations.
Experience in SaaS or subscription-based business models, with exposure to metrics like MRR, churn, and LTV.
Background in B2B commerce or marketplace products, with knowledge of merchant onboarding and ecosystem growth.
Experience with agile delivery practices, including working within sprints and managing backlogs in JIRA or similar tools.
Understanding of user research and design thinking principles, with evidence of incorporating qualitative insights into product decisions.
Practical notes
This is a full-time position with standard working hours.
You will be based in our Manchester office, with flexibility for hybrid working arrangements where appropriate.
