About the role
In this role you will define and deliver advanced analytics initiatives that directly influence strategic decision making across Zopa Bank. You will leverage emerging AI capabilities to transform how insights are generated, challenged, and actioned within the business. You will act as a technical thought leader, raising the bar for analytics quality, governance, and best practice across teams. You will own the end to end lifecycle of high impact analytics projects, ensuring rigour, clarity, and commercial relevance. You will translate complex data findings into compelling narratives that resonate with both executive stakeholders and operational teams. You will collaborate closely with product, risk, compliance, and operations leaders to embed data driven thinking into their roadmaps. You will mentor analysts and data practitioners by example, coaching them on sophisticated techniques and robust methodologies. You will stay ahead of industry trends, testing and incorporating new tools and approaches that deliver tangible business advantage.

What you'll do
Drive the delivery of complex analytics initiatives from conception through to production, taking personal ownership of scoping, validation, and insight communication.
Champion the adoption of AI and machine learning techniques to automate insight generation, enhance predictive power, and streamline analytical workflows.
Establish and enforce group wide standards for data quality, documentation, reproducibility, and analytical governance to ensure long term trust in results.
Partner with product teams to define metrics frameworks that accurately capture user behaviour, product performance, and business outcomes.
Lead the design and implementation of experiments and impact evaluations, using robust statistical methods to test hypotheses and measure true effect.
Translate ambiguous business problems into well defined analytical projects, prioritising work that delivers the highest strategic value to the bank.
Build and maintain strong relationships with cross functional stakeholders, ensuring analytics outputs are practical, actionable, and integrated into decision processes.
Challenge existing approaches by benchmarking new data sources, tools, and methodologies against current practices to drive continuous improvement.
Represent Zopa's analytics function in external discussions, ensuring our technical perspective and innovative work remains visible to the market.
Identify opportunities to streamline existing reporting, replacing manual processes with scalable, automated solutions that reduce ongoing effort and risk.
Develop clear, concise, and visually intuitive dashboards and artefacts that enable non technical audiences to understand and act on insights.
Champion a culture of curiosity and evidence based decision making, encouraging teams to ask why and test assumptions before acting.
Support the broader analytics community by sharing knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned from complex projects across the organisation.
Act as a go to expert for advanced analytical techniques, helping teams navigate ambiguity and apply appropriate methods to their specific problems.
Requirements
You have a degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience that demonstrates strong analytical capability.
You possess expert level proficiency in SQL and a modern analytics scripting language such as Python or R.
You have at least five years of professional experience delivering analytics in a commercial environment.
You are comfortable working with large, complex, and potentially messy datasets, and have a proven track record of extracting reliable insight.
You hold a strong understanding of statistical methods and experimental design, including hypothesis testing, regression, and causal inference.
You have experience building and deploying analytical models or working closely with data science teams in a production environment.
You demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to question assumptions and validate results thoroughly.
You communicate effectively to both technical and non technical audiences, translating complexity into clear and actionable recommendations.
Nice to have
Experience with cloud platforms and modern data stacks, such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Azure, is preferred.
A background in financial services, lending, or regulated environments is advantageous given the context of the business.
Familiarity with AI and machine learning tools and frameworks, and a track record of applying them to real world problems.
Experience mentoring analysts or leading technical discussions, showing a commitment to lifting the capability of those around you.

This is a permanent, employee based role based in London.
The position is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
