About the role
In this position, you will guide the data science team focused on enhancing Zocdoc's Provider Products. Your leadership will be crucial in shaping the analytical strategies that drive key product and business decisions. You'll be part of a dynamic team, contributing both as a leader and an active participant in data analysis.

What you'll do
- Lead and mentor a team of Data Scientists, fostering their technical skills and analytical thinking.
- Define and oversee the analytical strategy for the provider domain, focusing on product development, experimentation, and performance measurement.
- Evaluate and refine analytical methodologies, ensuring clarity and accuracy in results communicated to stakeholders.
- Manage experimentation processes, establishing clear success metrics and learning objectives prior to project initiation.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to inform and assess business opportunities and decisions.
- Guide the team in effectively framing analytical challenges while balancing immediate stakeholder needs with strategic opportunities.
- Identify and standardize recurring analytical tasks to optimize team efficiency while maintaining focus on high-impact projects.
- Recruit and onboard new data scientists who meet Zocdoc's standards for technical and analytical excellence.
- Utilize advanced generative AI tools to enhance team productivity and analytical capabilities.
Requirements
- A strong commitment to fostering equitable and inclusive workplace environments.
- 6 to 9 years of experience in data science, product analytics, or similar quantitative roles, with a focus on product strategy and experimentation, preferably in B2B or two-sided marketplaces.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in managing or mentoring data scientists, demonstrating a track record of enhancing their analytical skills.
- Ability to create structure within complex business contexts to facilitate optimal decision-making.
- Proficiency in experimentation, causal inference, statistical modeling, and analytical problem selection.
- Strong skills in SQL and an analytical programming language such as Python or R, with the capacity to evaluate complex analytical projects.
- Experience with complex data sources and the ability to guide the team in producing reliable analyses.
- Proven capability to navigate ambiguous problems and support high-stakes decisions in product settings.
- Excellent communication skills, able to convey analytical complexities to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- A proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and a drive to advance initiatives without needing direction.
- Familiarity with integrating generative AI tools into everyday workflows for efficiency and innovation.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Economics, Physics, or a related field; a Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline is advantageous but not mandatory.

Salary Range
NYC Base Salary Range: $190,000 - $270,000 USD
Silicon Valley, CA Base Salary Range: $190,000 - $270,000 USD
