About the role
In this position, you will own the design and execution of infrastructure initiatives that align technology capabilities with evolving business priorities at Zensurance. You will take end-to-end responsibility for specific project initiatives, ensuring that configuration, maintenance, and deployment activities are performed to a high standard of reliability and security. A core part of your ownership will involve diagnosing complex technical issues, driving them to resolution, and implementing fixes that address root causes rather than symptoms. You will leverage automation and scripting to transform repetitive manual tasks into scalable, repeatable processes that enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk. Collaboration will be central to your work, as you will partner closely with business stakeholders to interpret their objectives and convert them into robust technical solutions. You will play a key role in maintaining the integrity and security of our systems by applying best practices and adhering to strict standards in every change you manage. This role requires a proactive mindset, where you anticipate potential problems and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the technology landscape. You will be instrumental in helping the company maintain its position as a leader in the InsurTech space by ensuring our infrastructure is resilient, efficient, and aligned with our growth trajectory.

What you'll do
Perform detailed analysis of system requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications for infrastructure components.
Design, configure, and deploy server environments, network settings, and security controls to support application performance and business operations.
Automate routine administrative tasks using scripts and tools to reduce manual effort, increase accuracy, and improve response times.
Monitor system health and performance metrics, identify anomalies, and coordinate remediation actions to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, clarify technical constraints, and ensure solutions meet organizational objectives.
Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures to protect critical data and ensure business continuity.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues across the infrastructure stack, applying diagnostic techniques to isolate root causes and restore normal operations.
Manage access controls and security policies to safeguard systems and data, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
Document configurations, processes, and procedures to support knowledge transfer, audit readiness, and long-term maintainability of solutions.
Support the evaluation and adoption of new technologies and tools that enhance automation, scalability, and efficiency of IT operations.
Participate in on-call rotations to provide timely support for critical incidents and contribute to the continuous availability of systems.
Assist in the development and execution of testing plans to validate infrastructure changes and ensure they perform as expected in production environments.
Contribute to the improvement of IT processes and standards, identifying opportunities for optimization and driving implementation of best practices.
Act as a technical resource for internal teams, providing guidance and support to resolve infrastructure-related challenges efficiently.
Requirements
You possess a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or you bring an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
You have a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in systems administration, IT operations, or a similar technical role.
You demonstrate a solid understanding of operating systems, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux environments.
You bring experience with network protocols, infrastructure components, and the ability to apply this knowledge to support and secure system communications.
You have a proven track record of working with automation tools and scripting languages to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
You show familiarity with cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code concepts, with the ability to apply these principles in a practical setting.
You have experience managing APIs and understand how to integrate systems through standardized interfaces.

Nice to have
Experience with insurance or financial services environments is a plus, given the regulated nature of the industry.
Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards relevant to Canadian businesses is preferred.
