What you'll do
Design and implement quality assurance strategies for the platform's insurance data suite and business rules
Collaborate with the Docs, Renewals and Pricing, and Core Red teams within the Core Group
Write and maintain automated test suites covering both front-end and back-end components of the platform
Develop testing frameworks and processes that treat quality as a core product feature
Work with the MERN stack including MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js on daily tasks
Integrate PostgreSQL and BullMQ into testing pipelines as the platform adopts these newer technologies
Identify and document defects in the high-traffic insurance platform with clear reproduction steps
Partner with engineers to improve code quality and prevent bugs before they reach production
Scale testing infrastructure to support growing user traffic and expanding product functionality
Report progress and quality metrics to the Engineering Manager on a regular basis
Contribute to the evolution of the platform's testing culture across all three Core Group teams
Ensure the platform meets accessibility standards and regulatory compliance requirements for the insurance industry
Monitor application performance and identify quality regressions through systematic testing and analysis
Requirements
5 or more years of experience in QA engineering or software development with a strong focus on testing
Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and deep familiarity with the MERN stack and related tools
Hands-on experience working with MongoDB, Express, React, and Node.js in production environments on a daily basis
Practical knowledge of PostgreSQL and hands-on experience with message queue systems such as BullMQ
Understanding of insurance technology, commercial insurance, or similar regulated industry domains and business processes
Ability to write clear, comprehensive test plans and detailed bug reports for complex software systems
Experience building and maintaining automated testing frameworks for web applications at scale in production
Comfort working in a fast-paced, growing engineering organization with cross-functional teams and iterative delivery
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and branching workflows for collaborative development
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with product and engineering stakeholders
Nice to have
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for automated testing workflows and deployment
Familiarity with insurance documentation systems and policy management platforms used in the industry
Background in pricing engines, renewals systems, or actuarial software development and related tools
Knowledge of testing tools like Cypress, Playwright, or Jest for end-to-end test coverage and automation
Experience working in an InsurTech or fintech company that operates in a regulated environment
