About the role
Yext is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to support the data infrastructure behind our global agentic marketing platform. This 12-month fixed-term contract focuses on building the systems that power our analytics, reporting, and AI-driven product features. In this capacity, you will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into robust technical solutions that ensure the reliability and scalability of our core data platforms. You will play a key role in enabling data-driven decision making across the organization by constructing the pipelines and services that deliver timely insights. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, where you will own the design and execution of critical data workflows. You will work at the intersection of data engineering and software development to bridge the gap between raw data and actionable intelligence. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and accuracy of our analytics and AI initiatives.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Analyze business needs and collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect data infrastructure for AI applications and reporting.
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake to ensure data integrity and timeliness.
- Engineer scalable backend services and APIs within AWS cloud environments to support high-throughput data processing.
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from initial design and implementation through rigorous testing to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
- Construct resilient, distributed systems that are optimized for performance and capable of handling large-scale data volumes efficiently.
- Evaluate current platform components and propose, then implement, improvements to architecture and internal features.
- Partner with data scientists and engineering stakeholders to deliver performance-oriented data products that meet strict quality standards.
- Implement monitoring and observability practices to ensure the reliability and health of data pipelines and services.
- Write clean, well-documented code that adheres to best practices and contributes to a sustainable codebase.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to share knowledge and uphold engineering excellence across the team.
Requirements
- Possess 5+ years of professional experience in software or data engineering, demonstrating a proven track record of delivering complex projects.
- Hold a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or have equivalent practical experience that demonstrates the required competencies.
- Exhibit proficiency in SQL, with substantial experience managing complex data models and querying large datasets in production environments.
- Have hands-on experience building and operating distributed data systems and ETL/ELT pipelines in a cloud-native context.
- Show strong coding skills in Python, Java, C++, C#, Go, Kotlin, Ruby, or other similar object-oriented and modern programming languages.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and system design principles.
- Have experience developing cloud-native applications on AWS or comparable cloud platforms, leveraging managed services effectively.
- Maintain professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to communicate effectively with global stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Practical experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow is highly valued.
- A background in building APIs and data-focused services that are performant and reliable.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms, MLOps, analytics engineering, or AI/ML infrastructure such as BentoML.
- Direct experience with Model Context Protocols (MCPs) and their application in data workflows.
- A history of contributing to developer tooling, internal frameworks, or platform engineering initiatives that improve team productivity.
