This role centers on driving SharePoint development initiatives and providing technical leadership across multiple projects and workstreams. The successful candidate will take ownership of designing, building, and sustaining SharePoint platforms that directly support organizational workflows and business goals. In addition to hands-on development responsibilities, the lead developer will guide and mentor a team of fellow developers, helping them grow their skills in SharePoint technologies. Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead the end-to-end design and development of SharePoint-based solutions tailored to organizational requirements.
- Architect and configure SharePoint site collections, libraries, lists, and content types to support business processes.
- Oversee the creation and deployment of custom workflows and automation within the SharePoint environment.
- Guide and mentor a team of developers in building, testing, and releasing SharePoint applications and features.
- Partner with business analysts and project managers to translate functional requirements into technical SharePoint designs.
- Enforce best practices for performance tuning, security hardening, and scalable architecture across all SharePoint implementations.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues affecting SharePoint functionality, integrations, and overall user experience.
- Plan and execute the upgrade and migration of SharePoint environments from older versions to current platforms.
- Work alongside IT operations and infrastructure teams to ensure system reliability, availability, and consistent uptime.
- Produce clear technical documentation covering design decisions, development standards, and operational runbooks for the team.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define development priorities and align SharePoint initiatives with business objectives.
Requirements
- Proven track record of developing and managing SharePoint solutions in enterprise or large-scale environments.
- Deep understanding of SharePoint architecture, including site collections, web applications, service applications, and farm configuration.
- Strong proficiency in SharePoint customization using both built-in features and custom development methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience leading development teams, setting technical direction, and mentoring developers in SharePoint practices.
- Solid knowledge of SharePoint security models, permission structures, and governance frameworks for content management.
- Familiarity with integrating SharePoint platforms with external business applications, APIs, and enterprise data sources.
- Effective communication skills for presenting technical concepts to both engineering teams and business stakeholders.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline, or comparable hands-on experience.
- Ability to manage multiple development priorities and deliver projects on schedule in a fast-paced setting.
Nice to have
- Prior experience working with SharePoint Online and managing hybrid deployment configurations across on-premises and cloud.
- Background in leveraging the Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI for SharePoint enhancements.
- Exposure to modern SharePoint development patterns using the SharePoint Framework and client-side web parts.
- Working knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies applied within a SharePoint development and delivery context.
Skills & tools
- SharePoint Server and SharePoint Online administration, configuration, and custom development capabilities.
- Custom workflow creation and management using SharePoint Designer or equivalent automation tools.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs and the Client-Side Object Model for SharePoint integration tasks.
- Experience writing PowerShell scripts for SharePoint administration, automation, and bulk management operations.
- Understanding of SQL Server database concepts and their relationship to SharePoint content storage and configuration.
- Proficiency in C# or another .NET language for building custom SharePoint solutions and features.
