Careers in this field grow through a combination of experience, increased responsibility, and demonstrated results over time. Early years focus on building technical and operational skills, while later years allow for greater ownership and specialization. Many professionals choose to switch focus areas or explore opportunities at different companies to continue their growth trajectory. Growth in any career path comes from the scope of work, tangible results, and the reputation you build within the industry. It is beneficial to take on work that is slightly outside your comfort zone and ensure that your contributions are visible to colleagues and stakeholders. Consider asking the interviewer how the team measures success, who the role works with on a daily basis, what the onboarding and training process looks like, and what the company aims to achieve in the current year. Asking about what past high performers did well during their time in the role is a strong final question that provides insight into expectations and performance standards. Keep your list of questions concise and select the topics that are most relevant to your decision-making process.
