Senior Mobile Developer
Job description
About the role
You will architect and ship the next generation of intelligent mobile experiences that redefine how families interact with food data on a daily basis. You will take full ownership of the mobile lifecycle from initial concept and collaborative design through implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous optimization in production. Your work will directly influence user trust and engagement through robust, scalable, and maintainable codebases built on Flutter and Dart. You will partner with cross-functional teams to turn complex product requirements into elegant, high-performance mobile solutions that feel intuitive and responsive. You will leverage modern AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate delivery while maintaining strict ownership of code quality and security. Your contributions will support transparent, data-driven decision-making through analytics, observability, and crash reporting integrations. You will help ensure that every release meets the highest standards for reliability, store compliance, and user empowerment across iOS, Android, and web.
Key facts
What you'll do
Architect and develop production-grade mobile applications using Flutter and Dart, guiding the full lifecycle from initial discovery and prototyping through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
Design and implement scalable, layered feature architectures with clean separation of concerns, leveraging state management, routing, deep linking, and reusable UI components that adapt seamlessly across device form factors.
Integrate with backend services and APIs, emphasizing GraphQL and Backend-for-Frontend patterns while managing authentication, storage, analytics, feature flags, observability, crash reporting, and AI-assisted product workflows.
Utilize agent-first development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI coding environments to accelerate planning, implementation, debugging, testing, refactoring, and documentation while validating and owning all AI-assisted code before production deployment.
Collaborate with UI/UX designers to transform wireframes and Figma designs into responsive, polished user interfaces, including complex flows such as camera and scanning, data visualizations, custom components, and design-system-based screens.
Diagnose and resolve application issues related to performance, responsiveness, stability, rendering, networking, native platform behavior, build configuration, and release workflows on both iOS and Android.
Manage native iOS and Android build, signing, configuration, and store delivery using Xcode, Gradle, TestFlight, App Store Connect, Google Play Console, Codemagic, GitHub Actions, and OTA update workflows such as Shorebird.
Partner with product managers, backend engineers, AI teams, and QA engineers to clarify requirements, provide technical guidance, deliver solutions on schedule, and ensure comprehensive testing and validation of mobile application behavior.
Contribute to automated testing strategies, code reviews, technical documentation, Git discipline, linting, formatting, pre-commit standards, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen the development team.
Monitor and incorporate emerging trends in Flutter, Dart, mobile development, AI-assisted engineering, and the native mobile ecosystem to maintain a high bar for innovation, autonomy, and technical excellence.
Requirements
5+ years of professional mobile engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping production mobile applications that serve real users.
Strong hands-on experience with Flutter and Dart, including mobile architecture, cross-platform best practices, asynchronous programming, application lifecycle management, UI architecture, and performance optimization techniques.
Demonstrated experience building, releasing, and maintaining applications for iOS and Android, with mobile web experience considered a valuable addition.
Proficiency with agent-first development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI coding environments, using AI to enhance productivity while taking full ownership of code quality, correctness, testing, security, and production readiness.
Solid experience with state management, routing, deep linking, and scalable mobile architecture patterns such as Riverpod, BLoC, go_router, layered architecture, or comparable approaches that support long-term maintainability.
Hands-on experience with Flutter code generation workflows including freezed, json_serializable, build_runner, or similar tooling to reduce boilerplate and ensure type safety across the codebase.
Strong experience integrating mobile applications with backend APIs, especially GraphQL, covering queries, mutations, fragments, pagination, caching strategies, and Backend-for-Frontend patterns.
Practical experience with authentication flows, Git workflows, code reviews, native iOS and Android build and release processes, CI/CD pipelines, and app store delivery mechanisms.
Familiarity with analytics, observability, crash reporting, feature flags, local storage, caching, offline support, internationalization, localization, accessibility, and responsive UI principles that improve real-world usability.
Working knowledge of TypeScript / Node.js serverless functions, Hasura, Nhost, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, search technologies, LLMs, embeddings, or other backend services that support mobile product capabilities.
Excellent problem-solving skills, strong product sense, meticulous attention to detail, proactive ownership, clear communication, and the ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, backend, QA, data, AI, and leadership teams.
A sense of urgency and a demonstrated ability to deliver successful outcomes within tight deadlines in fast-paced environments.
Startup experience is a mandatory requirement.
