About the role
You will own the end to end execution of growth experiments on join dot whoo p dot com and other high visibility customer journeys that directly influence new member acquisition. You will lead a team of software engineers to build and iterate on viral growth engines including referral programs and social sharing features that amplify WHOOP organically. You will unlock WHOOP's availability in new global markets by solving localization, compliance, and operational challenges specific to each region. You will define the technical strategy, architecture, and design for each growth initiative while ensuring alignment with E-Commerce and SaaS best practices. You will partner tightly with product management, design, finance, and marketing to turn hypotheses into measurable improvements in conversion and retention. You will manage and mentor your engineering team, providing regular performance feedback and fostering psychological safety and continuous learning. You will promote a culture of innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement where every member feels valued and empowered to do their best work.

What you'll do
Architect and own the roadmap for join dot whoo p dot com, taking responsibility for experimentation, optimization, and reliability of the member journey.
Design and implement viral growth mechanisms such as referral programs, invite based incentives, and share to social features that scale acquisition efficiently.
Lead the discovery, evaluation, and rollout of WHOOP into new international markets, navigating regulatory, tax, and operational constraints.
Define and communicate a clear technical strategy and architecture for growth features in collaboration with product and design partners.
Establish best practices, standards, and processes for software development, testing, and deployment to ensure quality and velocity.
Drive data informed decision making by partnering with analytics and finance to set up experiments, define success metrics, and interpret results.
Mentor and coach engineers on your team, providing guidance, feedback, and development plans that support career growth and performance.
Champion a culture of innovation, teamwork, psychological safety, and continuous learning across the Growth engineering organization.
Collaborate cross functionally with marketing, finance, design, and product to align on goals, timelines, and resource plans for growth initiatives.
Take ownership of end to end delivery for assigned projects, coordinating dependencies, managing risk, and communicating progress to stakeholders.
Evaluate and adopt new technologies and tools that improve the efficiency, scalability, and maintainability of growth features.
Ensure that all software releases meet security, privacy, and compliance requirements for both domestic and global deployments.
Partner with finance to model the financial impact of growth experiments and support forecasting related to acquisition and revenue targets.
Act as a technical leader in problem solving, removing blockers, and maintaining a healthy, productive engineering culture.
Requirements
You have experience as a software developer operating in a leadership role, managing engineers and delivering complex software products.
You have hands on experience with A/B testing, iterative development, and data driven decision making to guide product outcomes.
You possess a strong understanding of E-Commerce and SaaS best practices, including billing, subscriptions, and conversion optimization.
You demonstrate strong technical skills in software development, testing, and deployment across multiple languages and environments.
You have excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, enabling you to influence without direct authority.
You show a passion for wearable technology and a desire to thrive in a fast paced startup environment that moves quickly and adapts often.
You are prepared to relocate to Boston, MA to work out of the WHOOP office, and you are willing to relocate if necessary to fulfill this requirement.
You can lead under uncertainty, balancing speed with quality while maintaining engineering standards and best practices.
You are comfortable managing multiple priorities and stakeholders while maintaining a clear focus on delivery and results.
Nice to have
Experience building and scaling high traffic consumer web applications with complex user journeys and conversion funnels.
Deep familiarity with referral and viral loop design, including instrumentation and experimentation best practices.
Knowledge of global payment, tax, and compliance considerations for digital subscription products.
Experience working with cross functional stakeholders in finance, marketing, and design to align on metrics and experiments.
Practical notes
This is a full time position based in Boston, MA.
The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate to Boston, MA to work out of the WHOOP office.
