About the role
You will own the end to end implementation of growth focused features that directly move our member acquisition and retention metrics. This role requires you to translate experiment hypotheses into production grade frontend and backend systems that can be rapidly iterated upon. You will partner tightly with product managers and designers to define the technical scope of initiatives and ensure alignment with business objectives. You will leverage data and user feedback to continuously refine the member journey and improve conversion through thoughtful experimentation. This is an opportunity to build the foundational experiences that shape how new members discover and engage with WHOOP. You will be responsible for writing clean, maintainable code that supports high traffic acquisition funnels and e-commerce flows. You will contribute to the long term health of our platform by ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability across our critical growth infrastructure.

What you'll do
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to design and deliver full stack features that improve member acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and retention.
- Implement responsive frontend applications using modern JavaScript and TypeScript with a focus on React based user interfaces.
- Develop robust APIs and backend services that power acquisition funnels, e-commerce experiences, and membership growth experiments.
- Translate ambiguous product requirements into concrete technical tasks and prioritize work to meet sprint commitments.
- Monitor application performance in production, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements to reliability and maintainability.
- Write clean, testable code and actively participate in code reviews to share knowledge and uphold engineering best practices.
- Partner with designers to translate visual concepts into functional, high quality user experiences that meet accessibility and performance standards.
- Work with product analytics to instrument features, validate hypotheses, and iterate based on measured outcomes and member behavior.
- Contribute to architectural decisions that support scalability, security, and operational efficiency across growth initiatives.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay current with industry trends and apply new techniques to improve our experimentation velocity.
- Support the deployment pipeline and infrastructure that enables rapid iteration while maintaining stability for production systems.
- Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies clearly to stakeholders across engineering, product, and design organizations.
- Help mentor junior engineers by providing guidance, feedback, and examples of high quality software craftsmanship.
- Participate in on call rotations to address production incidents and ensure timely resolution of critical issues.
Requirements
- Bring 2 to 4 years of professional software engineering experience building production web applications.
- Demonstrate proficiency in web development using JavaScript and TypeScript with a strong grasp of React fundamentals.
- Show experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs that connect frontend interfaces with backend services.
- Have hands on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and the ability to write efficient queries.
- Exhibit strong problem solving skills and a passion for building high quality, user focused products in an iterative, data driven environment.
- Communicate effectively with engineers, product managers, and designers while collaborating across teams.
- Embrace a growth mindset and show eagerness to learn from feedback and take on new challenges.
- Be comfortable working in a fast paced, experiment driven environment where measurement informs decision making.
- Maintain attention to detail and a commitment to writing code that is reliable, maintainable, and secure.
- Be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the WHOOP office located in Boston, Massachusetts.

The U.S. base salary range for this full time position is $125,000 to $175,000, with total compensation that may include equity and benefits as described in the compensation philosophy.
