About the role

You will take full end-to-end ownership of the global observability stack, ensuring it remains resilient, scalable, and capable of supporting rapid growth across distributed environments. You will transform observability from a passive toolset into a strategic asset by architecting efficiency and reliability using open source standards. You will build a global platform that empowers engineering teams to "own what they build" with confidence and minimal friction. You will design and evolve "Golden Paths" that allow developers to instrument their code instantly and gain high-fidelity signals without operational overhead. You will act as an architect of efficiency and reliability, balancing performance with cost-effectiveness while solving complex challenges related to high-cardinality metrics, log retention strategies, and distributed tracing. You will leverage modern cloud-native technologies to inspire and empower others, bringing wellbeing to the forefront of work and creating a supportive environment where colleagues can thrive both professionally and personally.

What you'll do

• Take full end-to-end ownership of our observability stack, ensuring it remains resilient, scalable, and capable of supporting our rapid growth.
• Evolve and maintain a cloud-native infrastructure based on Kubernetes, ensuring that our foundation remains at the state-of-the-art for distributed systems.
• Bridge the gap between complex infrastructure and developer experience, building the necessary abstractions so teams can manage their own observability lifecycle seamlessly.
• Design and implement "Golden Paths" that enable developers to instrument their code instantly while minimizing operational overhead and maximizing signal fidelity.
• Solve complex challenges related to high-cardinality metrics, log retention strategies, and distributed tracing across global workloads.
• Contribute to establishing and maintaining standards, guidelines, and best practices, formalizing them through processes like RFCs (Request for Comments).
• Utilize open source standards to build a self-service observability platform that balances performance with cost-effectiveness as a strategic service.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure observability solutions align with business objectives, reliability goals, and developer productivity.

Requirements

• You must be legally authorized to work in Brazil, and this role is only open to candidates located within the country.
• You possess a strong background in cloud-native technologies and infrastructure operations with a focus on scalability and reliability.
• You have experience designing and operating observability platforms using open source tools and standards.
• You demonstrate proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Golang, Ruby, or Python.
• You have a proven track record of building and maintaining platforms that enable engineering teams to own their services.
• You understand distributed systems concepts deeply, including metrics, logs, and tracing, and how they relate to real-world production challenges.
• You are passionate about creating frictionless developer experiences and building intuitive tools that abstract complexity without losing power.
• You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex infrastructure concepts into actionable guidance.

Nice to have

• Experience with Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Crossplane, and Hashicorp Vault.
• Familiarity with building and maintaining self-service platforms and internal developer portals.
• Hands-on experience implementing high-cardinality metric strategies and log retention optimization.
• Background in contributing to or maintaining open source observability projects.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and GitOps workflows using tools like ArgoCD and Crossplane.
