At Webai, we are seeking a talented Staff Full Stack Engineer to join our team in Austin, TX. This position is centered around developing high-performance web and desktop applications that support distributed AI infrastructure. You will be instrumental in crafting software that is not only scalable but also maintainable, with a focus on real-time communication capabilities. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on core products while applying AI-native engineering principles and mentoring fellow engineers to elevate their skills.

What you'll do
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to transform business requirements into functional software solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain both web and desktop applications that meet high-performance standards.
- Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab to facilitate automated testing and deployment processes.
- Write high-quality, clean, and scalable code that adheres to industry best practices.
- Engage in code reviews to enhance code quality and share knowledge within the team.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in both production and non-production environments effectively.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and propose architectural enhancements to improve system performance.
- Develop sophisticated state management solutions tailored for large-scale applications.
- Establish efficient workflows for data processing, caching mechanisms, and real-time data updates.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers, sharing insights on best practices, system architecture, and performance optimization.
- Lead discussions on architectural strategies and contribute to the formulation of long-term technical roadmaps.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in developing applications using JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Proven track record of building scalable applications that can handle significant user loads.
- In-depth knowledge of HTML, CSS, SCSS, and TypeScript, with a strong focus on front-end development.
- Familiarity with real-time communication protocols, such as WebSockets or MQTT, to enable data exchange.
- Strong skills in unit testing and end-to-end testing frameworks, particularly Cypress.
- Experience working with both relational and non-relational databases to manage application data effectively.
- Proficient in implementing CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitLab and other DevOps tools to streamline development processes.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a knack for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Extensive knowledge of state management patterns and libraries, such as Redux or Zustand, with experience optimizing intricate UI interactions.
- Experience in designing and executing scalable data fetching, caching, and synchronization strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership in driving technical initiatives and promoting engineering best practices within the team.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Rust and Python for backend integration tasks would be advantageous.
- Experience with cloud platforms and services for deploying applications.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker.
