This position is a critical leadership role within the Water Team, focused on the advancement and reliability of water infrastructure. The Senior SCADA/ I&C Professional Engineer is responsible for transforming complex operational demands into robust control system solutions. Success in this role requires a balance of technical expertise and collaborative spirit to ensure designs meet regulatory standards and provide clear guidance for implementation. The professional in this role will serve as a primary resource for ensuring system integrity and documentation clarity.
The position is based in Tampa, Florida, and operates as a full-time engagement. A competitive salary range of $135,000 to $175,000 per year is offered for this position. New hires are eligible for a flexible hybrid-remote work schedule after completing their first 30 days of employment.
Position Responsibilities
The core responsibility involves owning the engineering architecture for intricate control systems within water infrastructure environments. This includes translating high-level operational goals into detailed functional specifications. The engineer must ensure all designs adhere to strict regulatory compliance while simultaneously creating documentation that facilitates seamless teamwork. Clear and precise documentation is essential for enabling field crews to execute maintenance and troubleshooting activities effectively.
A significant portion of the role focuses on the configuration of monitoring interfaces. These systems provide operators with real-time visibility into critical flow and pressure metrics, allowing for proactive management. The engineer coordinates directly with hardware vendors to synchronize delivery schedules with project timelines and allocated testing periods. This coordination is vital for maintaining project momentum and avoiding delays.
Rigorous testing is a fundamental duty. The engineer must validate system sequences under a wide variety of simulated conditions to confirm that the final output aligns with the original design intent. Requirements
Holding a current Professional Engineering license is a mandatory requirement for this position. The license must be in a relevant discipline such as civil, electrical, or a closely related field. Candidates must also possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering. Acceptable fields of study include civil, electrical, or similar disciplines that provide a foundational understanding of engineering principles.
The position demands a substantial level of professional experience. Accumulating a minimum of fifteen years of relevant experience in control and instrumentation is necessary for success. Specific domain experience is equally important; candidates must have background working within water or wastewater facilities.
Technical knowledge of pump stations and collection systems is required to perform the essential functions of the role.
