About the role
This position is responsible for architecting and stabilizing equity administration operations at Viant Technology. The Sr. Stock Plan Administration Manager will own end-to-end workflows and serve as a key operational leader for the company's equity compensation programs. The role translates complex equity plan rules into precise execution while strengthening internal controls and ensuring audit readiness. What you'll do
- Administer new equity plans by managing intake and documentation in collaboration with Finance and Legal to accurately define scope and requirements.
- Build and execute routines for non-qualified stock options, restricted stock units, and performance-based stock awards in coordination with equity providers.
- Reconcile transaction details and equity data across EEO, HRIS, and payroll systems to guarantee consistency, accuracy, and integrity of records.
- Generate recurring and ad hoc reports that support earnings per share calculations, equity award tables, beneficial ownership tracking, and disclosures in SEC filings including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and proxy statements.
- Partner with Legal and Finance to design, document, and enhance SOX controls specific to equity administration processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and process changes related to executive 10b5-1 plans while ensuring strict compliance with holding period and blackout restriction regulations.
- Liaise with external vendors and transfer agents to resolve data mismatches and facilitate timely responses to internal and external audit requests.
- Educate employees regarding equity awards by maintaining internal resources and answering common inquiries to reduce administrative burden and improve employee satisfaction.
- Analyze large datasets to identify discrepancies, resolve anomalies, and implement solutions that enhance data quality across the entire equity lifecycle.
- Drive month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities by preparing timely analysis and reports tailored for Finance, Accounting, and Tax stakeholders.
- Ensure operational excellence by establishing best practices that streamline equity administration and reduce the potential for errors.
- Act as a subject matter expert who translates regulatory requirements into actionable steps for cross-functional teams.
- Support the integration of new technologies and methodologies that improve efficiency and scalability of equity processes.
- Contribute to the development of training materials and procedures that promote consistent execution of equity administration tasks.
- Uphold the security and confidentiality of sensitive equity data through adherence to established policies and protocols.
Requirements
- Bring a minimum of five years of stock plan administration experience in a U.S. public company environment to demonstrate your familiarity with complex equity structures.
- Hold a Certified Equity Professional Level 1 certification as a baseline requirement, with Level 3 certification strongly preferred for handling intricate equity arrangements.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of equity compensation mechanics, associated tax implications, and relevant regulatory filing obligations to ensure compliance.
- Show the ability to reconcile records between multiple systems while maintaining strict standards for data integrity and accuracy in all administrative tasks.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, evolving organization by effectively prioritizing multiple projects and competing deadlines without compromising quality.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving skills to address discrepancies and resolve issues that arise during the equity administration lifecycle.
