About the role
In this position, you will play a role in defining the visual identity of Vercel's main web platforms and product launches. Your creative designs will enhance the user experience on Vercel.com, Nextjs.org, and other new product initiatives, ensuring that they are not only envisioned but also executed effectively in a live environment. Your contributions will significantly shape the global perception of the Vercel brand across both digital and physical interactions.

What you'll do
- Establish the visual strategy for Vercel's key online platforms, including Vercel.com and Nextjs.org, while steering the creative output for new product launches.
- Create striking visual components for significant occasions, including animations, promotional videos, event branding, and materials for partnerships that bridge both digital and physical spaces.
- Manage the complete creative workflow from the initial idea to the final execution on the live web, working closely with design engineers throughout the process.
- Set a high benchmark for design quality, emphasizing typography, motion graphics, and details that characterize the Vercel aesthetic.
- Adapt designs for various formats, including web, motion graphics, illustration, 3D modeling, and brand identity, enhancing the Vercel brand's visibility across all platforms.
- Contribute to and enhance Vercel's design system and shared components through your impactful work, setting new benchmarks for excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs are feasible and align with technical requirements, fostering a integration of design and functionality.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continually innovate and elevate the design standards at Vercel.
Requirements
- Demonstrate outstanding visual design skills and innovative creative thinking, particularly in web-focused projects.
- Present a portfolio that highlights your experience in developing brand systems and showcases your work across various digital and physical formats, with a strong focus on successfully executed web projects.
- Have substantial hands-on experience in areas such as motion design, 3D art, illustration, environmental design, event design, and interaction design.
- Approach design with a systems-thinking perspective, focusing on creating reusable components and design patterns rather than standalone pieces.
- Exhibit a proven history of producing impactful designs for launch events, brand activations, or partnership projects under tight timelines.
- Work effectively with engineers, understanding the intricacies of web design, including layout behavior, feasibility, and the translation of design concepts into code.
- Be comfortable in a tech-centric environment; prior experience with developer tools, B2B software, or SaaS products is advantageous.
- Show self-motivation and a collaborative attitude, being open to feedback and willing to provide constructive suggestions.
- Familiarity with Vercel is preferred, with practical experience being a significant plus.
- A minimum of 8 years of professional design experience is required.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in creating prototypes or bringing design ideas to fruition using code, particularly with React, Tailwind, or Next.js.
- Experience in contributing to a large-scale design system would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of user experience principles and how they apply to web design.

- The base salary range for this position in San Francisco, CA is between $208,000 and $312,000. Compensation will be adjusted based on the candidate's location and other relevant factors.
