About the role

We are seeking a Director to spearhead Field Engineering Operations, serving as a strategic ally to the VP of Field Engineering. In this position, you will oversee the operational frameworks and processes that enable our technical teams to scale efficiently while providing exceptional value to our diverse global clientele.

What you'll do
- Formulate and oversee the operational strategy for Field Engineering, which encompasses Solutions Architects, Developer Success Engineers, Customer Success Engineers, Technical Account Managers, and Professional Services.
- Assemble and lead a high-performing operations team that acts as a foundational element of the organization.
- Continuously refine organizational structures, define roles, and enhance engagement models to adapt to the company's growth trajectory.
- Supervise capacity planning, resource distribution, and territory design across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific regions.
- Manage the comprehensive customer lifecycle, which includes forecasting technical wins, facilitating onboarding, and tracking consumption metrics.
- Establish a robust reporting infrastructure, develop key performance indicators (KPIs), and create health scoring models to evaluate team performance and customer success outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of operational strategies with business objectives.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline operations and enhance efficiency across the Field Engineering function.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in strategy, operations, or technical program leadership, particularly within rapidly growing SaaS organizations.
- At least 3 years of experience in team management and development.
- Demonstrated success in scaling operational frameworks for both pre-sales and post-sales technical teams.
- In-depth knowledge of Salesforce architecture, including custom objects, flows, reporting capabilities, and ecosystem integrations.
- Experience in managing territory planning, capacity modeling, and compensation structures for technical teams in companies generating over $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).
- Proven ability to collaborate with VP-level executives to translate overarching business goals into actionable operational strategies.
Nice to have
- Experience in establishing an operations function from the ground up within a Field Engineering or Solutions Architecture context.
- A background in cloud platforms, infrastructure, or developer tools, particularly with product-led growth (PLG) and enterprise sales models.
- Familiarity with consumption-based pricing strategies, onboarding processes, and frameworks for assessing customer health.
- Experience leveraging AI or automation technologies to enhance field operations efficiency.
- Technical skills in SQL or experience in developing internal tools in partnership with Go-To-Market (GTM) Engineering teams.

Practical notes
- Salary range: $260,000 - $300,000 (base salary for San Francisco).
- Compensation package includes equity options, a comprehensive healthcare plan, flexible paid time off, and a budget for remote work expenses.
- Hybrid work policy: Employees residing within commuting distance of our offices in San Francisco, New York, London, or Berlin are expected to work in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
